Display of Airsoft related gear?

After having plunked down so much money on gear in these past few months, it seems like a crying shame to stuff it all into the closet, or shuffle it into an under-bed storage container when you aren't actually playing/between events.

In the end, it's all big-boys (or girls) toys.. it's not really real, but it is associated with an activity that i have really come to enjoy. I already stuff a couple of (small) semi-classic, semi-restored motorcycles into my living room for the wintering months as rolling object d'arte to ease the pining for the good riding months to come around again .. what about setting up the gear on a display medium, to also ogle in the months that you can't sweat your arse off in it and otherwise enjoy in the good months for outdoor games?

I'm thinking of picking up a mannequin or stylized bust in the next little bit - it shouldn't cost more than an M4 magazine or two to do so, at the right source. Has anyone else done this, or am i going over into the deep end of eccentricity?

I think that it is fairly obvious that i live unattached, and alone.. no She Who Must Be Obeyed (SHMBO) to cow-tow to, in terms of my eclectic interior decorating choices.. so no comments on that, thanks

It's you stuff, do as you want with it.

Can't say I ever had the same feeling to display my gear though.

FYI a decent mannequin is a few hundred dollars, unless of course you buy it used.

I have a gearroom with my helmets and rigs setup... not so much as a real display, but some kind of display/storage hybrid I guess. And I do know some people who literally have a gear museum.

So... just make sure you can close a door to make them magically disappear if you ever want to get laid, and that any gun, if you choose to display it, is NOT visible from the street. Other than that, it's your call loll.

Bingo. As said, no more cost involved than a 1/2 tank of gas and a trip to a retail recycler to plunk down the equivelant of an M4 magazine or two will do it, for the item(s) that i have in mind.

I'll post back with what i come up with in the next week or so.. if the idea should come to fruition.

I know people display their guns and such, but at the end of the day, its your money, do what makes you happy.

It wouldn't be a bad idea in a gear room or something I guess. At least it would make an interesting conversation piece. As people could see a full loadout displayed. But a mannequin would be pretty funny looking while your busy using your gear, lol. Just don't get one with boobs on it or people will think your a little off. Anyways, at least your gear would be of use somewhat in the off season while on display.

pssh... with my size and the size of your average female mannequin, my gear would just slip right off of it. :P

Sounds like an excellent means to stay that way..

but... build a gear wall .. and hang the stuff up , putting it on and off a mannequin every time you want to use it will get old fast.

I have a gear room/ armoury where I store all my stuff

I have a gear room as well, I think it's time we have a gear room thread if there isn't one already.

I'd like to do something like that myself... Having a manequin to put my BDU/vest/dropleg/helmet/mask/etc on, and hang my M4 and soon-to-come L96 on the wall! :P

Its a great storage for winter, but during summer, unless its a very calm one where I don't play often (like this year), I wouldn't take the time to don the BDU on it after every game... I could just quickly hang the vest, helmet and mask on it, just cause a white, naked male manequin in my bedroom would look fucking gay... lol.

What if you guys got inflatable dolls?

Then you slip the gear on and hook her up to the compressor so you're not wrestling a CIRAS onto a floppy chunk of vinyl.
