Building an AEG from scratch; a question about internals.
I'm not new to airsoft, and I have disassembled gearboxes, but what I don't know is, what are good vs bad internals in terms if quality? It's not something I've had to look into before.
I'm not looking for Systema-grade internals, but I want a gun that works. I want opinions on whether these will be at least average to good, G&P has a good rep as far as I know: http://torontoairsoft.com/product.php?id_product=1064 http://torontoairsoft.com/product.php?id_product=1069 http://torontoairsoft.com/product.php?id_product=1333 Thoughts?

First two are fine, I wouldn't get a JG hopup though.

G&P is tank for externals, their internals are pretty good as far as stock parts go, but you absolutely need to shim the gears properly before using the gun.
And systema makes good M4 hop chambers |

Only thing I'd change is a Modify, Prommy, or Guarder hop up.
The motor is alright but I'd probably go Guarder or TM EG1000 (they're beasts, I have one myself pulling an SP110+ (gives me 410 FPS)). PS: My setup is an EG1000 Torque and High Speed gears, weird right? But it works.

The TM EG1000 is the high speed motor, the EG700 is the torque motor

I could have sworn that it said "Hi-Torque" on the sticker on the motor.
Also, it was an "EG MAX Hyper 1000" if that's actually a different motor.

Thanks for all the help I'll get the gearbox and motor, and get the gearbox shimmed, but a different hopup chamber.

Agreed. The EG700 is also quieter.

for the price of those motors why not by an acm neo magnet motor....? more torque more speed better quality takes more abuse.

The TM EG700 is a tank of a motor. Not high performance, but reliable, efficient, excellent for builds under 400fps.
G&P M120-M170 easily handles anything from 380-470 fps at any RPM. But I've burned out two of them with 11.1v LiPos after a year. If you're looking for something to push 400fps at 1500rpm, I've got an eagle force EF1300 motor in my 249 that's just a monster. Super efficient, real high torque, only drawback is it doesn't have the rpm of the G&P M140. But I'm running triple torque gears so that I could use a higher speed motor instead of a high torque motor. |

I doubt that gearbox is over 400 fps, I'm not using lipos, I'm not looking for super rate of fire, and I'm not that trigger happy, should the G&P M120 be fine?
