Madbull XC-03 Co2 charger wont regulate pressure...

Hey, I've had Mad bull XC-03 co2 charger for a couple weeks now and have used it with no problems. Well i went to use it for a game this weekend and when i twisted the Co2 into the regulator the gauge wont start at a low pressure anymore, it jumps right to 900psi or so. I took the flat tip screw cap out and noticed that the seal around it was torn right up and there was seal fragments in the airway passage. I cleaned that out, took it apart and oiled it and used teflon tape on the threads to maintain a seal on the flat head tip. Well this did nothing, it still jumps right up to 900 or so psi... Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Sounds like the pilot valve seal is toast. Most regulators bear a spring against a moving piston which either pushes on a needle valve stem (common to many paintball regs) which opens an inlet. This allows gas from the high pressure side to push into regulated side. Eventually gas pressure raises in the regulated side which changes the piston direction so it lets off of the valve. Adjusting the screw changes the setpoint by adjusting the spring force exerted to the piston. The piston's recharge setpoint is caused by the summation of the spring and atmospheric pressure balancing against the opposing regulated chamber pressure.

Anyways, long and short I suspect that the valve that controls gas flow between your bottle and regulated pressure chamber is broken. Either that, or your piston is jammed by broken oring bigs from your side tap plug so it's seized in the opening position.

Hmmm.... I see. i thought i got all of the fragments out, i noticed on the charger that there is a section that requires a adjustable wrench to take apart, and mine are at work. Do you think there are more pieces in there and is that how taht piece comes apart? Or should i unthread the valve meter and see whats in there, i was just paranoid of taking the meter out. Thanks for your help.

Sorry, I haven't got my regulator handy. It's at the shop.

I did find their user's manual online though:

My guess is that you're going to have to disassemble the regulator to clear out whatever may be jamming the piston "Pressure adjustment valve" #13. I don't think removing the gauge will be necessary. It's tapped into a hole that's drilled to connect to the regulated side. You'll probably have to take out #14 though. I can't remember if that requires a pin spanner though.
