Question ARES M4 SIR - "About"

Looking to buy my first rifle soon and I am thinking most likely going with an ARES M4 to start, but I was wondering... There is soooooo much M series information on here that its very hard to sift through. I am interested in the ARES M4 SIR-M,http://www.aresairsoft.com/m4sirm.html now in the 550-650 price range is there another M4 AEG that is better? or another type of AEG altogether.
What I am looking for is as follows:
going to be used as an outdoor gun
Shooting 0.20g - 0.28g (depending on how it shoots different weights).
Color is not an issue
Weight is not an issue
Rails are a bonus
Looking for reliability and quality first
will probably not do much upgrading.

The one thing I am aware of with the ares m4 is the quick spring change.

Thanks in advance

Depending on your budget:

1. Systema
2. KWA
3. VFC

Everyone will say Systema beats all, but obviously not everyone has that kinda cash. KWA M4's have excellent internals.

my top end budget this go around will probably be 650 to 700.
If I could I would like to stay in the 500-600 range then I can also get a ok sidearm to start. even though I know its not required right away, its a want more then a need.

That eliminates systema for sure.

Yup, definitley eliminated Systema. I would recomend a KWA then. A freind of mine has a KWA M4 and he highly recommends it. Search KWA M4 on here and you will find several excellent reviews.

I have an ARES M4 it would be the AR-013 model. I have put about 4000 rounds through it and haven't had a problem yet. Its been shooting straight since I took it out of the box. I've only run .28 (1 bag)and some .25 bb's (1/2 bag) through it. In fact I have haven't even adjusted the hop up on it. I was told to watch the motor as it can be an issue. Also the mag well with some mags not seating properly. I was told the fix is to put a little tape around the mag. I use mainly real cap and mid cap mags so I do a lot of mag changes and this problem hasn't come up with my gun or mags yet.

For an M4/M16:

top choice - G&P
2nd place - VFC (or King Arms, but I'm more familiar with VFCs)

You're looking between $550-700, and that will get you a rock-solid (internal & external) rifle out of the box.

Would you guys mind recommending a reputable dealer here in Canada for G&P,VFC, and KWA. I live just outside Calgary, so the closer the better
Does imperial airsoft carry them? on their shelves they have Ares,Magpul,CA.

Thanks

Sorry, dude, but no-one is going to give a dealer or link in the open forums (and if they did, they get slapped down hard by the staff). Forum rules.

Although it's been said already, wait for your verification to go through, then ask again in the AV only section, or browse the AV retailers section.

kk, then it looks like the Ares, cause I'll be buying before I'm AV and I show up at the first game.
I hope I'll be able to get AV at my first game, it unlocks all the answers, haha.

Thanks anyway

Alternatively, you could find someone to lend you a gun for your first game. I'm still new myself, and I've met a few people who have already offered to lend me a gun for my first game, too. This way, you could get age verified without having to rush to put money into a gun right away.

Links or sources are prohibited until you get AV'd, yes, but I can tell you I've seen some G&P M4's (and variants) in the classifieds that are in your price range, so maybe don't jump the gun just yet. There's a lot to pick through and choose from there. Plus, if you buy local, you get to dodge the shipping costs as well.

ok then, another question. I know G&G are known for there lower then average compression. how do the ARES do in the compression department? I am more concerned about range over FPS.

About the same. Compression can be improved by mechbox improvements (ported piston heads, air nozzles fitted with o-rings, etc.). However, range is more than just compression - a good hop-up rubber will improve flight characteristics, for instance. A heavy/precision BB will also improve range.

If you're concerned, though, look up a few sniper threads that discuss maximizing range.

KWA also has great customer service. My KWA mech box for my M4 broke, I emailed them to give them the issue, and they replaced it with their newest upgraded mech box. Just sent them my old mech box for their quality control department to see what happened. Was great. I've owe TM, CA, KWA and so far I think KWA by far had the best customer service, but I also didn't make out too badly with my TM's as they didn't really have any problems either. They just weren't as solid as my KWA. That thing was a brick.
