Scope Question

I was browsing AirsoftQc, and I came across this:

http://www.airsoftqc.com/store/index...&productId=564

I dunno what to expect for 50 dollars in terms of quality, but what caught my attention was the second piece in the picture. I know it screws on the front of the scope, but I don't really know what it does. Sadly, AirsoftQc's description is a little lacking...

In short, is that piece a lens protector or sunshade of some sort? Or is it a magnifier? Please help a noob out.

Looks like a sunshade to me, but I don't really know, just a guess

From the pics it looks a lot like one of the scope my father bought from DX. About the same price too, except it didn't come with that extra piece you're wondering about. If it's the same or similar, build quality is actually impressive for the price, but the scope itself *might* be bigger than what you may expect :P

Thanks for the quick answers. Is the lens in it plastic? As in can it double as a scope protector? And It's good to hear that the scope is decent. Maybe considering it for my svd, if a&k ever produce some more...

The shade itself has no lense in it its just a hallow tube of steel with a threaded end you remove the end cap from the scope and screw the shade on. The lenses in the actual scope are glass.

Don't worry about a lense protector on a magnified scope, the objective lense is curved and made of tempered glass, so the BBs will shatter if they hit it, the scope will just shrug it off (my Tasco has taken rounds before, I just emptied the pieces out of my sunshade). The ones that need a lense protector are typically red dot types that have a flat and thin front lense made of glass or plastic. A magnified scope has it's lense, upwards of 1/4" thick glass.
