G&G M4A1 Max
I'm looking at a G&G M4 MAX to replace my slightly upgraded G&G M4. The MAX series of guns shoot 460fps out of the box, which is too hot for where I play. I do know that the G&G GR16 shoots 360fps out of the box, but settles down to 330fps after some use. Does anyone know if a G&G M4 MAX would settle down from 460fps to a more usable 430fps? I know there is a spring included that will reduce the velocity from 460 to 360fps, but the whole reason I am considering an M4 MAX is because I don't want to open the gearbox.

After the spring is broken in, you'll lose anywhere from 20-30 fps. There are many factors on how much you'll lose but the best way is to replace the spring. Break in period can take anywhere from 500-3000 rounds depending on the spring's material.

by the time the spring wears down enough you'll have most likely cracked the mechbox or shredded the gears. there are plenty of professional gun docs in Canada who can repair, upgrade, or downgrade the gun for you.

The closest thing I've received to an answer has been HKGhost's reply. Was hoping that someone has proven that the spring breaks in in these guns with a chronograph, as some springs remain constant even after several thousand rounds.

I would have to think that he other internals would break before he spring settled to a manageable state. They guns have the normal g&g internals with just a 140 spring to get them into the country.
I have put many of these guns through the chrono right out of he box and seen readings that range from 460 - 507 so I would think with extended use something would break before the spring settled down leaving you with having to open the gearbox or sending it to a local gun tech.
