From crap to decent (help wanted)
I’m looking at upgrading my Skeleton Sidearms P226 and have some questions. Really what I want to do is to get a full 25/26 rounds off in a single gas fill.
1) Is the SS226 a clone of the TM P226? Just need some reconfirmation. 2) What would be the most efficient upgrades? I’m looking at a TM replacement ABS slide and frame and TM Mags for starters. 3) What else should I looking at to buy to upgrade my pistol? I don't have to much funds, and I can’t get another pistol (not AV’ed yet). If it breaks a rule to answer a question, DON’T answer, I don’t want to get anybody in trouble. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

The best upgrade to the SS P226 is to throw it in the garbage and buy a decent P226 like a KJW or TM. Seriously, it's the worst pistol I've ever seen, and the pistol with the most issues I've ever seen.
It may be partially TM compatible but I know for sure it's not 100%. |

Thanks for the input, BUT I'm waiting for AV status and the ability to buy a TM pistol. I've used my pistol in games more than my rifle, so I want to make more gas efficient.

i have had a look at a couple of these pistols and they are really really really (really) crappy.
a local retailer used to sell them and stopped because every unit they sold came back broken within 2 months of the sale. dont put money into a crappy gun, just save it till you get AVed and then buy something worth while!

I got the pistol for free, and I've gotten more use out of the pistol than my SRC rifle. The only problem I have had with my pistol is a spring popped out (easy fix), and the poor gas consumption (working on it). I read that heavy metal slides and poor tolerances use up alot of gas so would a TM ABS Slide & Frame (http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/tokyo-mar...-p226-gbb.html) improve gas efficiency? I'm about a year out from my AV status and I'm try to save money for when I get access to the AV section.

Crackers

the slide may make it through but the frame won't
plus the gun is not 100% tm compatible so you may be throwing your money away if you buy it. best save and wait the year. |

I love my TM P226. Its is very well mad and has lasted me since 2007. Honestly, the SS ones do suck. I know a few people here who have them that have replaced the mag 3+ times or have scrapped the gun altogether. From a PP26 owner and fan, do yourself the favour and buy a TM one (used, if you can find one) or a KWA one. The KWA ones are full metal and are pretty well made and solid guns. A KWA or TM P226 are the ONLY ones i will ever buy! Take this advice from people who have them and have had them for years. The KJW ones are okay, but i find the mags leak constantly. I have a KJW mag and it leaks all the time.

Don't waste your money trying to make that gun better. If I were you, I'd look for ways to make it more gas efficient without spending a dime on it. Reseal the mag, polish the rails, make sure the internals are spotless and everything that moves is polished or has a very smooth surface. All of this you can do on your own and won't cost you a dime, just time.
P.S. if you have to, look for ways to make the slide lighter. Drill some holes, make some ports, remove material as needed. Just don't fuck it up.

Thank for the input guys. I don't trust my skill and knowledge with internals, I'll need to arrange sometime with the local gunsmith. I'll looking a TM MEU and a CNC'ed Kimber (desert) Warrior Metal kit, plus internals for later.
