Ghillie Suit Help!

Hey guys, Ive been playing Airsoft for a while and plan on getting AV'd within the next couple of weeks (Ive been in contact with local rep) and I've been looking into creating my own ghillie suit to fit the local field that I play on. Ive been looking all over the internet for stuff about it and I cant seem to figure out what would be a good material to use as a base for the suit? Would some spray painted Burlap do the trick? Or should I go with something different?

Also, what material would you suggest to use on the outside of the suit? I was thinking a mix of strips of spray painted Burlap and some 1/2 - 1 foot lengths of think twine.

Any ideas?

Get some burlap, cut them in squares, spray paint it and then strip it into strands. Attach to ghillie netting and profit.

By Squares, can you give me a rough size? And how would I go about positioning these squares onto my back/body?

Mix the size and shapes up, and scatter them over the netting on your shirt, pants, hat. Don't go to heavy on burlap, use a lot of natural vegetation(make sure to change it during the game day when/if it starts drying/dieing. Also, grab from the ground(long grass, etc), not from trees, bushes, etc You want to blend into the ground.

Also, once you are done with the burlap and have it placed on the uniform get it dirty, wet, roll around in it, etc and it'll be good to go.

I say squares, as the burlap is made of strands that cross each other at a 90 degrees angle. So when you pull the strands out , you get 2 equal lenght of strands.

Your square should be about twice the lenght of the jute you want on your ghillie as you tie the strand with a knot from the middle, doubling the amount of jute hangning from the net. Does it make sense? if not, just try it and you will figure it out.

Don't attach big burlap flaps to your ghillie. That is good for quick easy volume, but it won't blend in with grass on it's own. You want individual strands, not woven burlap.
The hard part is the un-woving process.

Alright, so I understand the burlap not being a very good idea just to layer on, but what If you were to just tie the strips of it on but then fray each individual strip of it so that it looks more like individual pieces?

This would waist 50% of your burlap, produce 1000% more mess and be more complicated.

I started one but it can take a very long time to do properly ,...
Its up to you what you want to use for a base for full coverage many people like old green coveralls , reinforce the knees and elbows with tough patches of leather or similar , then sew or use shoe glue to attach fish netting
paint olive ,...next get alot of burlap & dye it a few colors like olive , tan brown , whatever matches your environment , then the long part ,..separate the individual strands of burlap,.. mix up the colors ,..when you have a handful of strands about 8 inches long tie them to the netting & repeat ,...that's the basic concept
the most important thing is to have a very shaggy or bushy hood or hat , to break up the shoulder head silhouette, if you want something thats quicker to get in & out of & can be rolled up & carried you could look at second hand stores for an old overcoat you could die & apply the same process to ,..or even
just make a blanket that you can wrap into ..
also be aware of your materials like burlap can be very flammable , you should find some fire
retardant treatment to apply as well , if you are ever near a heat source you could easily become a human torch,...be careful...

Ok, so what I should do is take the larger sheets of Burlap and take the individual strands/strings from it and string those all over?

This series covers the textbook methods of construction
there are a few different methods ,...i think using separated burlaps strands
produces the best results , but most methods are described here ...
