Rifle case - is there a right way to cut up the foam?
Just received a double rifle case. Is there a right way of cutting out the pattern for the rifle, mag, etc?

If you're willing to go that extra bit for the perfect, clean look. With mine I layed out everything that was going to go into the case onto the foam, traced it, then cut the shapes out using a leathermen. Not the cleanest cuts, but it got the job done. I've had a couple people say it looks decent, I think it looks like ass but works at the end of the day. Maybe they were just being nice. :-P |

get a china marker and trace out your items, then get a box cutter or a few and cut your shit out. Take your time.

Othe foam is about 1.5 inches. Is there a way not to cut the foam through and through? I am thinking of cutting it close to an inch deep only. That way, it would not interfere with the rifle in the first layer.

You can get a foam cutting knife at most hobby stores.

Cut out the shape you need then take the piece you just cut and cut the bottom off so it is as thin as you want it put it back in and it'll still look clean.

I had my storm case profesionally cut for my 2 AR15's for two reasons.
1. I would probably wreck it haha 2. I was told by the foam cutter that the foam releases poisonous gases when cut, so it might be worth while to ensure that its safe to cut. However I am by no means an expert so it would be good if this could be clarified. |

Spray the foam with water than freeze it and cut using a sharp exacto knife. Makes it 10x easier.

If it helps I did a custom foam cut for my M249. Cost me about $150 in equipment and material to get set up.
Heres the link for my whole rebuild project with a section on the foam cut out http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=71821 Let me know if you have any question Jakster |

Sorry for jumping on this thread but I'm a bit confused on how to order the foam on foambymail.com.....
When I go to "check out" there isn't much of an option on shipping to Canada, it kind of forces US on the shipping address in some way |
