Will the M140 spring wear out the internals of a G&G M16 A3 MAX?
I recently purchased this gun (https://www.buyairsoft.ca/gandg-m16-a3-max.html) and I'm concerned that the M140 spring (that the gun comes with) will wear out the internals rather quickly. Therefore, I'm considering replacing the spring with a M120 or M130. However, I don't want to do this unless I have to because I generally play more of a sniper's role. Thoughts or advice anyone?

AEGs are limited to 400fps on most fields, so you will HAVE to downgrade anyways.

Most fields have fps limits in place, these limits are 350fps max indoors and 400fps max for outdoors. The M140 spring will exceed these limits and you will not be able to field that particular gun.

the 140 spring will destroy the G&G gearbox.

I usually play with a private group on private land, so I don't care about the fps limit. I have a different gun for that.

You're going to be shooting about 450 FPS, that can REALLY hurt someone if you're not careful.

Yes, I understand that - I would only shoot people who were a safe distance away.

I'd probably go with an M130 still.... It's also probably a wise idea to do some mods to the gearbox so that it doesn't crack from the stress placed on it (ie. installing the "V2fix" AKA the "V2 Shock Transfer System", doing that "rounding the edges" thing to reduce shear/impact forces on the corners of the gearbox, metal torque up gears (don't know what the G&G comes stock with though), torque up motor, etc.).

FYI, I just sold one of those and installed a Prometheus MS120 spring for the customer, it chrono'd an average of 427.1 fps with the MS120. It should wear in to the 415-420 fps range after a game or two. Out of the box, it shot a average of 461.2 fps. My GF76 (FN FNC) shot over 470fps out of the box.
