Pouches for M16 shorty mags
I've been looking at getting some elastic retention mag pouches, but my mags are all the short style ones. I've always used the old velcro style pouches in the past and thought I'd make a change. Since they don't fill the entire pouch I'm a little worried about them not being all that secure. Are my fears misplaced, or should I look at a shorter pouch like an M14 one?

You can use the regular sized pouches and put 1" of blue insulation foam in the bottom to prop the mags up.
It stays in place and allows you to use pretty much every design of M4 mag pouch out there.

Or if you feel like using the pouches you have, cut the flaaps off, and then remove the velcro from the front. That is what I did when I had stubby mags.

M14 mag pouches work good.
