Combat shirts

I offically decided to turn my 3 color desert/DCU's, my friends BDU's and later down the road my CADPAT into combat shirts. I have a ACU combat shirt to use as a guide. Im just curious of what you guys have in store for suggestions as the what I should use for the base shirt. The only thing I can think of using is Underarmor heat gear OD green for bdu and cadpat and underarmor heatgear tan for the DCUs. Any brands out there better than underarmor? Im looking mostly for comfort, durability and somthing that stays cool under a plate carrier. I'm not really in need of fire resistance or anything too serious.

Underarmour = over priced rash guard... your paying for marketing!

Yoga or any Zellers/walmart excersizing gear would do. I saw a dude rocking a Lululemon shirt under his vest

I don't know how all the brands I'll name will relate to your temp conditions, but here it goes:

UnderArmour: can't ever go wrong. Quality, long-lasting, but pricey.
Icebreaker: is what I wear. Love it. That's expensive.
Lululemon: eeeeh, I wear their tank tops but didn't know they made base layers. Huh.
MEC (Canadian): have a few of those, limited colour choice though.
Arc'Teryx: quality, limited colour choice for that purpose.

If you are budget minded, any outdoors or sports store will have some choices for base layers.

Propper offers a base layer from the adventure tech line that has several features in terms of heat and sweat transfer. It is on the high end but in the same ballpark as Underarmour. It is also more military inspired.

Hmmm... unless you're gonna cheap out and use some Hanes cotton tshirt, for the price of getting a UA or similar base layer plus the trouble of cutting it up, a BDU top and having to do all the modifications yourself (with possibly questionable results: don't know how "pro" you are at sewing garments), it would be cheaper and easier just buying pre-made combat shirts, no?

Tru-Spec makes one in DCU (and other patterns/colors). For CadPat, CPGear has OTW shirts in both Cadpat WL and AR.
