TM Glock 18C AEP

I wanted to know what you guys think about the Tokyo Marui Glock 18C AEP because I'm thinking of getting one. Any input would be appreciated!

AEP's in general are usually not as good as GBBs im my opinion.

These are amazing little guns. Their accuracy and range are amazing, they shoot a lot farther than GBBs. Though, their FPS is around 200 without upgrades, so your opponents might not feel the hits if they are sprinting or have a lot of padding. Also low FPS means it takes a longer time for the BBs to reach your target, which makes it hard to hit a moving target. On the plus side, they don't make a lot of noise.

I regularly use one as my primary in CQB, once you get over the fact that sometimes people will not feel your hits, and you get to know the gun well enough to be able to use it's excellent accuracy and range, you'll be amazed at what this little gun can do.

Also, the mags are very cheap, they are full-auto and semi-auto, and with a Marui pro-light, you get great battery life and a slight increase in ROF.

I have a CYMA G18C. A good clone of the TM one. Beautiful gun. Works great. Shoots REALLY fast on full auto.

It all comes down to whether you want a GBB or an AEP.

GBB:
-Power
-Recoil (big plus for me)
-Blowback/slide lock
-"BANG!" (at least indoors)
-Full sized mags
-No batteries to charge

AEP:
-Accuracy
-Consistency
-Low maintenance
-Quieter
-No leaky mags
-Cheaper mags

Thanks for the replies guys. The reason I want an AEP is that it would be easier to maintain. As you can see from my avatar, I already have a M1911A1 GBB. And also, how many shots can it take on a full charge?

Depends on the battery you got with it... with the 200mah I get about 10-12 mags, so 300-360 shots. While I don't have a 450mah battery, I've read that you should get about 25-30 mags, so, let's say up to 900 shots. With the Marui Pro-Light, well, I have no idea. I've run it for weeks without charging it, I charge it only before CQB games where it's going to be my primary. I think it's 5000 shots or so. Anyway, it's so much you're probably never going to run out of juice with it. :)

I've been using a TM Glock 18C for about a year now. The battery is easy enough to change when you need to, and the batteries themselves are miniscule, something you would have no trouble carrying an extra one of in your rig/pocket.

The magazines are finnicky, I've found. They undergo a lot of moving around when not in the weapon itself (Hell, even IN the weapon) and the screws have a bad tendency to back out, so they're something you should think about using some blue loc-tite on. They're tiny and have a knack for escaping their storage area, especially if it is not fully enclosed (ie: a pouch with a single velcro strap to hold the magazine in). I would most definitely recommend some way to keep the magazines in the gun, such as a strap over the bottom of the handle. It's rare that you accidentally hit the magazine release button, but when you check your weapon and there is no magazine in it, that's just downright frustrating.

The gun, with a suppressor, can be remarkably quiet for an electric weapon. Since your hand covers up a majority of the motor apparatus, most of the vibration is absorbed. There is an advantage on the GBB side of things, though, and that is response. When you pull the trigger on the AEP, expect the round to leave the weapon a half second later. My only gripe with it is that those mechanisms can get quite complicated to dismantle when they are as miniaturized as they are. Take pictures as you dismantle (to upgrade) and keep your screws and springs organized.

OVERALL:
I love it, it sits securely in a SERPA holster, the magazines are (relative to a GBB) cheap, and the full-auto setting has saved my bacon more than once.

I've found that pistol magazine pouches with hard inserts designed for single stack 1911 magazines work very well with AEP mags. I use these:

Also, a better battery improves the trigger response time. Again, I would recommend a Marui Pro-Light. I love this thing. You don't have to bother with spare batteries, the ROF and trigger response time are better... and a light is often quite useful.

Completely agree with Russianfunk as I own 2 TM G18C AEP's that I've ran for over 2 years (still stock) with 22 round mags or 100 rounders. I find they work very well in winter months while GBB's have an hard time. I do Highly suggest if you get one that you get the 500mah battery for the pistol as the 200mah do not last at all (+/- 100 rounds) and the 500's just go on forever!

^^^ I found this frustrating, and since I wasn't prepared at the time to invest in upgrades, I sold it. Otherwise, it functioned wonderfully.
