AKS-74n build
Hi folks,
I've been looking for some parts for my new build, now that I got my hands on a Cyma cm040 metal body. It is Marui style with 4 screws. So far, here's the list I've made. Code:
King Arms Metal Front Set for Marui AK47/47S KA-SK-09 King Arms AK74 Style Steel Safty Selector Lever for Marui AK Series KA-SEL-01 G&P AK47 Steel Magazine Catch GP430C King Arms AK74 Type Steel Cover KA-AK-01 King Arms Extended AK Mag Catch (Type A) KA-AK-04-A Is the G&P Steel Mag catch going to fit ? Or should I stick with KA? Also, where can I source something like this : http://www.lctairsoft.com/pdc_marui/marui_fm_10.htm I found the choice of barrel to be really limited. I'd quote a few more parts from eHobby but it seems to be down for maintenance right now.

On that LCT set it says "For Marui 74MN Forepart".
The TM AK74MN probably takes different parts than a regular AK since it's a bit of a different system. |

Going with a TM style body like the CYMA is really going to limit your options when it comes to availability of parts. You would be better off to get a hold of a VFC style receiver instead (LCT,VFC,Kalash etc) as besides more parts being out there, they replicate the actual rifle a lot closer than the TM design.
Unless you are going for a Type 3 milled Russian AK47 ( I believe TM is still the only reference design for a milled AK amoung the major manufacturers ), no reason to stay with the TM style design. It has too many flaws/weak points and too much progress has been made in other designs. You can get this particular rifle easily, the "N" simply denotes that is has a bracket for mounting night vision optics. The option of buying an AK-74 and putting a bracket on would be simpler and cheaper. Last edited by Kokanee; July 30th, 2010 at 19:14.. |

Yeah I already have the metal body with the bracket on the side.
I actually didn't know that the way the barrel was locked to the receiver would be different from TM to VFC, I thought it was simply the front receiver part that would matter. Thanks for the head's up!

Here's another question!
Would this be for AK74s or AK47s? (is this the same thing as well? : http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/a...w/tb74woga.jpg) And is the "upper" receiver portion different in airsoft from 47 to 74?

How are they different? I'm trying to be as accurate as possible, but I can hardly see any difference.
And is this still suitable for a '74? I tried searching for one without much results. Thanks, really appreciated!
