i was just wondering if anyone knows how to take down an src m4. i keep hearing about people breaking the tabs of the upper reciever when they crack it open. how do i seperate the upper and lower? i need to swap the inner barrel and hop up but im worried about breaking the reciever tabs. if anyone could help me out that would be great. thanks |

As far as I know it should go something like this. It shouldn't be to far off from the disassembly of that of a regular M4.
1.)Remove the the rear body screw 2.) Firmly grip the rear end of the upper receiver and slowly pull the rear end up. You will begin to see the tabs flex as they slide out of the lower receiver. 3.) Once the upper has been opened from the lower it is optional to remove the front pin as you do not require to since you are merely swapping a barrel. 4.) Reach into the front end of the upper receiver and extract your barrel.

***DO NOT DO INSTRUCTION IN ABOVE POST OR IT WILL BREAK***
doesnt open up like a typical m4/m16. read here for details or you'll break the tabs/upper. see illusions post a few from the top its accurate http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=37049

Thank you Baker but it is possible to separate the two halves without any damage if a person is patient enough, although its definitely not the most recommend. The listed directions in your link are the much more safer route.
Essentially to list what ILLusions post stated is that you actually have to run through the majority of the disassembly procedure to remove the two portions of your receivers. Quote:

NOOO.... I have a SRC hk416, and the only way to separate the upper and lower body is by completely disassembling the gun: :S
1) remove stock, buffer tube 2) remove the grip motor plate, then the motor, then the grip itself 3) remove the magcatch 4) remove the m4 body pins 5) remove the gearbox pin 6) remove lower receiver and voilĂ*! PS: if you gun is front wired, watch out for the wires when you pull the gearbox out of the upper body EDIT: oops didnt read what T7 said before me... :S |
