Need Some Help

Greetings Canadian Airsofters,

I recently (tonight) bought a full metal AK 74, 380 fps, from the US. I had to ship it to some friends in the states, due to the company not being international. Should I have problems at customs with it? What should I say to them when I declare it?

My question is, why did you ship something down to the US? They can get stuff cheaper than we can. And they have way more stuff than we do.

No, I purchased it from the US specifically for that reason;its cheaper. The AK -74 was 170 dollars there, whereas here I would have to pay twice that. I had heard some people get problems with our customs bringing US airsoft rifles through to Canada, but I assume it was because their weapons exceeded the 400 fps rule. Mines only 380 and full metal (I can only seem to find plastic, transparent ones here in TO) Anyways, I just wanted to hear what to expect when I go to pick it up this weekend.

Perhaps I should have clarified; I bought the Airsoft Gun from the states, sorry for the confusion.

Basically, it looks like you just bought your friend an airsoft gun. If you had searched up some threads on importation, you would've seen that an airsoft gun itself will never get through customs.

That thread will tell you all about it.

I would put money on you having it confiscated.

It is a PROHIBITED DEVICE and can't be legally imported ... you could end up charged with a criminal offence if you try to import it. At best it would not be allowed to cross the border.

you know.. less than 5 minutes of research would have saved you this trouble.. now you have purchased an object that is trapped in the USA and the only way to get it here is to risk your future on a savings of less than $200 ... smart move ...

Just let your friend have it, return it, sell it, or mail it to Canada with a vague customs declaration and hope for the best.

Smart move.

How is that possible? I'm sorry, that sounds absurd; how can I get criminally charged for a non-lethal item?

It's a replica firearm. Again, read the link in my previous post to find out why.

It's funny how he asked just AFTER he purchased it.

OP, what gun did you get?

Actually if YOU took the time to read the law, you would know that it is only criminally chargeable if; a muzzle velocity greater than 152.4 metres per second (500 ft/s)
a muzzle energy greater than 5.7 joules (4.2 ft·lbf).

Way to cite your resources btw.

And to the person who asked what gun, it was the boyi AEG RK06.

Yes Mr.Bond,

it's clear that Brian is an idiot.

Actually every airsofter in Canada is an idiot as we gladly pay 2-3x US prices here when we could have just ordered from overseas.

enjoy your stay here:banghead:
