I must say that this is my favorite GBBR to date!
This little wonder packs a punch and the recoil is simply amazing!!
I found the original KAC pistol grip too small & slippery for my liking so I swapped it for a RS Hogue AR grip (minimal modification).
As for the RS PMag, all of my WE mag internals have been converted which allows for a custom fit resulting in maximum gas efficiency!If I can make one suggestion it would be to ditch the stock PDW mag that it comes with! Its' gas capacity is much smaller and that results in the guns inability to cycle/function properly! Stick with the original WE M4 mags and you'll be just fine.

On a side note, I have noticed how well this gun recoils and I think this is why I think the lower receivers are breaking! Does anyone know if there is a CNC version of the bolt coming out? The weight of the stock bolt is too heavy and it transfers too much force to the rear of the receiver...I'd like to see one made out of aluminum like the one BoomArms made for the SCAR!!!

The PDW cycles much better using the original WE M4 style mag.



The PDW mag internal is proprietary to the plastic shell it is housed in and cannot be modified to fit a RS PMag outer shell.



I found that the PDW rubber seal atop the mag was too recessed and did not provide a very good seal against the brass tube when inserted into mag well. This resulted in poor gas efficiency, fewer shots per mag and the bolt would not lock back...at all !!

also, concerning the lower receivers breaking, i read this : if you strip the gun, you'll see a transparent pad installed at the rear of the receiver where the bolt transfers its weight during recoil. apparently these where not installed properly in the first PDWs and would fall out the gun, causing the bolt to impact directly on the metal, and with time causing the receiver to break because there was nothing to absorb the recoil. So they say, with this pad well installed and glued properly to the lower receiver, it shouldnt even be an issue.

Actually Amos and I are getting sorbo pads made to replace the current pad at the back of the receiver. Hopefully they'll work better and last longer!

They're just like GBB mags if you've ever used one. They have internal reservoirs that you fill with gas.
A few companies make adapters so you can use local store bought CO2 or propane tanks.

I picked up one of these (open bolt, no trades) and I'm quite impressed - both with the KAC PDW design and WE's replication of it in this GBBr. It's a very nice looking gun, is well thought-out in terms of design, and comfortable to hold and shoot.

I don't care for the small grip either. I like something a little more substantial. I would much prefer something a little more "standard AR" like either a standard AR grip or Magpul MOE. Perhaps even the Hogue that you have. What was involved in the mod to get an RS grip to fit on yours? Really, that's the only externals I'd switch.

This is not an issue on the open bolt model. There's more than enough gas in the PDW mag to power through an entire mag in full auto in a single burst, have enough gas to lock the bolt back, and some gas to spare (only enough for 4-5 more shots). Cooldown doesn't seem to be as much as an issue as I've seen with other GBBrs. I'm sure the M4 mags with their higher gas capacity would work even better. But for open bolt models, I don't think that the PDW mag gas capacity is an issue for 30 rounds.

A note for anyone looking to use WE M4 mags - their current mags are designed for the brass tube / closed system. Stock, they won't work. However, there is a feed lip / rubber seal replacement kit available for $4 US that will allow you to convert any existing brass tube WE M4/PDW mags for use with the open bolt system. Also, for owners of the brass tube system that would want to convert their PDW to the open bolt design, there's apparently a conversion kit available.

On the open bolt version, there's a huge black rubber bumper about 3/4" thick in the back of the lower receiver to reduce the impact of the bolt on the receiver. I don't think that this will be an issue with these models.

And while I can't compare to the brass tube system, I can vouch that the open bolt version kicks like a mule. It's very comparable to my Inokatsu in terms of felt recoil.

Yep, there's a conversion kit on ehobby, and they sell open bolt version mags as well

Unfortunately they're all out of the open bolt mags.

Still debating which mags I should go for. I'm actually liking the look of the proper PDW mags over the AR mags. Just don't look right IMO having a 5.56mm AR mag on a 6mm PDW. Although I do like the convenience of the AR mags. Decisions, decisions... Was gonna check Redwolf, but their site is down.

For some reason on my closed bolt pdw, the pdw mags do not perform well at all. Seems as though the bolt doesn't want to completely cycle. I'll try to swap flow valves to see if there is a difference or not.

The primary reason why I went with the closed bolt system is because the majority if WE owners I play with have closed bolt. Makes for easy ammo sharing on the field without having to ask, "open or closed?".

Just got mine 3 hours ago!
So it's about 18 degrees in here, gets 30 rounds off semi auto no problem, does NOT like full auto lol
But quick bursts are okay, I did 3x 3 shot bursts and the mag still managed to lock the bolt open while low on gas and super cold.
Can't wait to try it on CO2

And the rubber block at the back that prevents receiver breakage isn't glued in place, it's just kind of...there.
So glue it in there if it isn't, and I'm looking at making a sorbo block to replace it and see how that affects performance.
