I'm pretty sure thats meant for M16/M4 mags, maybe you can get 1 AK mag in each mag pouch.

Yep it will.

Comfy thing, I love mine.

I stopped using it only because it could not hold as many mags as I wanted comfortably.
Using the general pouches on the side can hold 3 each (as seen above) but for me it was uncomfortable.
Easy to reach, just movement was hindered.

Easily.

The mags in my picture are poking up a fair bit just to demonstrate how many you can fit in.

Good input miles.

I was torn between this rig and a cheap small Molle vest, but the Molle won me over. It's just so versatile. You can put pouches ANYWHERE. Though sometimes it's hard to find certain mag pouches, such as 7.62mm mag pouches. There's only a hand full of those out there, unless you custom make em.

I use a chest rig and I will combine it with a Molle Combat belt with pouch (so it will redistributed the weights on me)
plus, I will add drop leg panel to have more mag!

lol you do realize the following;

Not trying to be a pain, just showing you that you probably could have found out what you were looking for faster and easier than the method you did choose.

good chest rig expect mine has a rip on 1 of the pouch covers not sure how I did it. But it fits 1 ak 47 mag in the three front pouch and 2 in the side pouches.
