AN/PRC-152 Replica
There's already a pretty decent thread going on about AN/PRC-148 MBITR replicas, but I wanted to know if anyone has a source for a Harris AN/PRC-152 radio replica?

As far as I know there's no AN/PRC-152 replica available at the moment.
I have tried contacting some people to ask if the interest is high enough to make a AN/PRC-152 replica. I'll get back to you if I hear something regarding this.

I've had my Replica AN/PRC-152 "Harris Falcon III" Multiband radio for a couple of months. I bought mine in OD Green, they also have a Desert Tan but were out of that color when I bought mine. Both look very good & are quite impressive in your hand. I haven't had much time to work with it but it seems to be a good radio. Ebay has two sellers that handle them. One sells his for $250.00 USD, the other $350.00 USD, both seem to have the same radios made by TRI, (Triumph Instrument), they have plenty of aftermarket items you can purchase to go with them. One of the sellers shows his radios working underwater, so far I haven't tried that maneuver & I doubt I will! As I said I haven't had much time to work with them but so far the 6 pin connector seems to be a problem, so far nothing I've tried has worked on it. I bought a spare battery at a fair price & I'm working at programming it but as it doesn't come with anything but the battery, single pin A/C Charger, antenna & "manual". It has to be programmed from the keypad as delivered, it doesn't come with software or programming cable but they can be purchased, I'll buy them when I get some time! The manual comes in "English" and Japanese I think. The radio operates on the following Freqs., (0-2 is their ref.), FM 87-108 MHz (Rec only), VHF 136-174.995 MHz (Rec & Xmit), UHF0 350-390.995 MHz (Rec only), UHF1 400-470.995 MHz (Rec & Xmit), UHF2 480-520.995 MHz (Rec only), as taken directly from their manual. You can program U-U, U-V, V-V, & V-U. I don't have the room to list everything that the radios do & they do a lot! If the connector problem can be repaired these radios will outshine any other replica on the market!! Please enter any other information ref. these radios in hopes we can get an info pool going like the PRC-148 radio has in another Blog. Thanks, Ed

Any updates on programing or other presets? Just got one and I can get it to talk to my FRS radio but before I dive in a handy guide would be handy.
I'm running the TRI racal PTT and Comtac setup. Their 6 pin connector to the PTT is working on mine.

I haven't bought the radio yet, but in one photo it looks like there is a Kenwood two pin adapter for the side. Is this included with the radio?

It's not a Kenwood 2-pin here.

The Kenwood adapter connects to the side in your picture there. I contacted Tri and they said they sell it separately.

So a 2-pin to 1-pin adapter.
That radio is already a snug fit in a pouch. I suspect that would make it a bit worse. It's got the nice quick disconnect to a PTT on top; why not use that?

It is the multi pnm to two pin adapter. Mostly it is for better selection of ptt's, speaker mics, and headsets. Plus you dont have to buy all new mics if you already have K type.
Edit: Found a pic of it. Last edited by EagleDriver; August 1st, 2013 at 23:51.. |
