RBAV, CIRAS or Weesatch??
Lo' all..
I'm here to ask a question of the gucci-kit carriers of this board (looking at you wey ) to help me with my decision. I appreciate good kit, and i normally run a Wasatch (HSGI not repro) but i need to change my loadout to multicam (no snide remarks!) and as such i am in the process of selecting my next vest (or plate carrier) i have on my cards three options with sub-options: Weesatch (i love the wasatch but it's too damn big when i load it up) by HSGI Paraclete RBAV (http://www.optactical.com/parb07baarca.html) The zipper front, 05 style.. looks like the RAV Eagle CIRAS (http://www.optactical.com/eaincoinrear.html) the only thing that i both like and dis-like about the RBAV is the Molle loops are multicam-patterned but these are a known weakness (stitching is sub-par and merges after a fair use) My first thought is the CIRAS, but the others are strong contenders in my mind, plus the Weesatch would save money for buying other bits and pieces and it's an 'open' plate-carrier that is cooling Please bear in mind that i live in a hot country (cyprus) so this is also a factor. plus i can murder bits of kit on the sharp rocks we have here, so robustness is another factor. i'm looking for answers from people who know what they're talking about, people who have used these vests or reviews that are in-depth... sorry to be impolite, but this is a serious purchase and so i ask for serious answers cheers! |

Or you could try to get your hands on an actual BAE Eclipse RBAV...

fubar: nice vests but i'm dead-set on multicam, and i can't see any multicam so i'll have to pass on that..
ksuechuc: i've seen this before and i have considered it, but my normal suppliers don't stock it, and i haven't found it in (you guessed it) multicam. does anyone on this board run with a CIRAS (Eagle, not repro) ? i know, i'm a whore for going to multicam.. but it works bloody well in cyprus! plus the team i'm part of is going towards it. |

I'd go with the CIRAS since its a little more "open" than the RAV, but still has plenty of real estate to attach pouches and shit. I use a RAV for games and at times it can get REALLY hot even in shitty manitoba weather lol. Plus they're pretty easy to find in MC

If you carry plates, the Weesatch is a better option.
I've owned alot of HSGI over the years. I'll roll with it in a heartbeat. Most plate carriers fit poorly without plates, so I don't judge the fit until the plates are in. I had a CIRAS years ago, but holy crap it kept too much of my body heat in my core area. I'm a sweater, and it was not good for me. The Wasatch was much better (especially under the arms) for heat dissipation. If plate carrier is not an issue, I'd roll with a Denali again in a heartbeat. Best rig I ever had (and I kick myself that I sold it). Tomorrow I'll have a MC Wasatch, so, back to that I go. But not for airsoft anymore.

thanks to you all for your comments, particularly mcguyver..
i do run plates (amazing how much more intense the 'workout' becomes with them in) and so i know how different the feeling is on a wasatch with and without.. plus, given the temperature here in cyprus (today is a nice 28 degrees centigrade, summer is 38) i think i'll have to stick with a weesatch, as much as i want the CIRAS I think that i'd die of heat-stroke if i'm not careful :P (but i'm still open to suggestions if anyone has them, who knows what interesting item you may propose) |
