Accuracy Internation AW50
Ok so I'm about 95% sure no company makes an airsoft AW50 which is basically Accuracy Internationals .50 caliber sniper. But I still want one. So I wanna build one and recently I found details on the SOCOM gear Barret M107 and if it can be built around an M-4 gearbox and setup it shouldn't be to hard to do something similar with an AW50.
Now I'm gonna see if a local expert airsoft tech will help me with the fine internal details but one thing I doubt I can find locally is an actual AW50 to get measurements from. Anyone out there have access to one? I'd much prefer to get straight off the real thing measurements as pictures can't always be trusted and it is no small project to have even half the parts custom machined. More detailed and clear pictures would be great to and any practical input on it would be enjoyed. |

I think you're over your head.
And no one is going to loan you a ~$15000 sniper rifle so you can measure it and try to make your own. |

Search L96.
Do your research or shop at Canadian Tire. |

+1 do your research, you seem totally uninformed about the AW50
And someone beat you to it, just do what he did or something: http://www.airsoftforum.com/board/lo...p/t105897.html

I'm not expecting anyone to loan me the rifle especially since I don't have my PAL yet and I'm betting it would be illegal for me to have possession of it even just to measure. I was hoping someone that owns one or uses one or can access one could help me with the measurements. Some good pictures and some measurements on a few things here and there is all I need.
The L96 is nice but like 10 companies make airsoft ones and the L96 is a generic AW or AWM. The AW50 is the big brother and it varies A LOT. Thanks for that Drake. I didn't know of that forum but I'll check it out. |

As long as they're in direct supervision and give permission you can handle any firearm you want, PAL or no PAL. I don't know of anyone that owns an AW50 however, they're hella expensive. The people that do have the money to buy one often instead choose to build a fully custom rifle as it turns out to be often cheaper and more accurate for target shooting.

Well that is good to know though I doubt anyone in my area has one. Though if someone does and they want to let me come over and measure it and look at it I'd REALLY enjoy that opportunity.

I'm not so bothered by weight really as I lift heavy things all day at work. Also it doesn't need to be super accurate and I don't mind spending a little extra to have the gun I like best.

I dont think it will be a matter of a 'little extra' to get it to be what you want.
