Motor Reving, but no piston movment?

I'm was just taking ont my AEG for some exercise since it hasn't been fired for quite some time. when I Pulled the trigger I can hear the motor reving, but there weren't any piston movement... and moving the gun I can hear some small object moving inside the gun. Now I'm suspecting that some gear in there is broken, but ths guns been fired no more than 200rds, so I'm wondering is there anyother issue that might cause this problem? (motor not high enough, something is stuck etc?) Just kind of hard to believe this kind of failure for almost a new gun.

For those that need to know its a VFC SCAR Light.

possibly the motor gear is not engaging, or more than likely a broken gear

Best way to know for sure is to open her up. I would always check the internals before trying to fire if it hasn't been used for awhile regardless of how many shots been fired.

It's either a stripped gear or a stripped piston.

what battery you using? a buddy had a similar thing happen, the piston choked up b/c he was using an 8.4v, which didn't give enough power to cycle the piston fully, causing it to do exactly what you're saying, had o be taken apart for the piston to be unjammed.

No way it's the battery. If the motor spins freely and the piston just isn't cycling then it's either a gear or the piston. I'll say from experience though they the VFC gears are terrible. My SCAR broke a tooth within hours of being unpacked and I've repaired more than one other since then ad well. Exactly the same thing in each case. Just my experience with VFC internals though so maybe I'm unlucky lol.

try swapping out the simple stuff before going into the mechbox.

try a good battery and then a motor that can pull a similar spring in a different box. just because the motor spins freely outside of the grip, doesn't mean it has the power or rather torque to turn under load.

but it aint outside the grip - unless ive totally misread the situation which is entirely possible lol so please feel free to correct me ;D

I agree that it would most likely be the battery in the case of the motor turning outside the grip but not inside but from the sounds of it hes got it sll together and the motor turns but no bang bang hehe. happened to 4 VFC's that I know of and this may be the 5th :P time will tell i guess but it seems the new VFC SCAR's you can buy in canada legally seem to be having this problem in common :P or like i said I'm just an unlucky sod hehe

Ah yes. Missed that part. Disregard previous post.

It's a stripped piston or gear then. Pull the motor first and hope it's the pinion gear. Not likely but could alwyas hope!

Stripped gear would cause whining. Stripped piston your gears will sound normal, but the gun won't shoot (as in the piston won't move). You likely have the rear tooth broken off, and it's floating around your mechbox. Don't cycle it any more til you open it up and find that piece of whatever floating around, you might damage your gears too.

Sounds like a stripped piston to me, although no way to tell unless you open it up.
