Generation of Gearbox?
What's the main difference(s) between a 2nd and 3rd generation gearbox, and If you really want to get in depth, the 4th, 5th, and/or 6th generation ones?

Go to mechbox.com...they've got a list there.
Mostly different shapes to fit different the dimensions of different rifles. Some versions use the same parts...others require specific parts. |

Are you confusing generation with version?
V2, V3, V6, V7 etc... are all different versions of a gearbox, not necessarily generations as V2 boxes from 10 years ago don't look too different now-a-days. The difference between them is shape so they can fit in different guns. V2 or for M4/M16 and MP5s generally, V6 are for P90 and Thompsons, V7 is for M14 etc... |
