Best radio for team
Starting up this year and its been decided to get our team set up with radios.
Now what do we do? Some guys got tons of $$ some just a bit, so whats compatible? Can my teammates grab different radios and still connect? Most of us want throat mics but not every one wants to blow a bunch of cash. I need some insight, as we play on quite a large field and want to use them at claybank this year. Kinda like buy it once and thats it. Oh what am I saying, I know you guys know what the goods are! ! Thanks in advance for the help

I can't really help you with the radios, but for the throat mics, unless you buy a good one (I still don't really know what that means), you'll have trouble understanding the guy talking. We played last Saturday, and one of our guys had a throat mic. It made is voice sound all monotone and it flattened everything down so it was hard to distinguish words. Imagine a trucker mumbling onto his radio, and I think you'll get the picture.

Try this site for your Radio's plus ear piece's
http://www.radiogearpro.com/main/ind...3eab87e25972fc Your question :"Can my teammates grab different radios and still connect?" Yes, You should be able to as most GMRS radios have all the same radio bands as per channel or so. The UHF radio's can be programmed fairly easy to each channel of the GMRS Frequency's so you can connect without any problems. Some where on ASC is an list of the frequency's for GMRS channels ,but I can't remember where is was. cheers

Thanks airmax, really good price and all but is it quality, what brands do I want and what do I want to stay away from? I truly thought that some were not compatible so I'm glad that all cleared up. And as far as throat mics go, its all up to each player to pick the set up, so what do you all recomend for dense bushes?

PUXing 777 on ebay, usually can get them for 80USD shipped
Its a chinesse 5 watt radio, 3 of us players have them and LOVE them Compatible with MOST radios, (You program the frequency, havent seen a radio that it doesnt work with) Lipo Battery with charger, lasts ALL day easy Compatible with headsets (2 pin) We got 6 miles range in the city of Saskatoon, and on the field it works really good. The only downfall, is you have to program the frequencies into it, one time thing, takes 20 minutes, however you can put secret frequences on it that most radios wont reconize which is a plus, |

About the nicest cheap radio you can get for airsoft. Those little frs radios are ok for some stuff, but you just can't beat a 5W radio for long distance. As for your original question, using any radio that transmits in the frs/gmrs ranges will allow you to communicate with teammates easily, no matter the budget. The big gp68's and others (yaesu, icom, puxing, etc.) will all talk to each other on those frequencies, as well as the bubble pack motorola radios (be careful when using the little frs/gmrs radios with the 5watt radios. You can easily blast the little guys out). It's up to you to decide what you need and what will work for you in features and price. Just be sure you can all transmit/recieve on the same frequencies and you'll be golden.

If you have a large field, then you need a radio with 4-5 watts of power. If guys each grab a typical consumer frs/gmrs radio from different manufacturers the CTSS tones can either be slightly off. I use the Yaesu VX177 UHF, it does need to be moded to cover FRS but it is easy to do. It is both commercial rated and sumersible.

Motorola GSX900 is a good little radio its Throat mic and headset compatible comes with 2 radios a charger and rechargable batteries for 80$ and the best part is it is small it will fit in almost any pouch or pocket even comes with belt clips and different color faceplates. Has frs/gmrs and says they are good for 47Kms but That is in a strait line in a wide open field. Mind you I havnt played on a field yet that i was outa range or got choppy response.
JMO SQUEEK!
