M500 barrel/loading tube rings

Okay, so here's the story.

I just came into possession of a delightful custom ACM M500, and it works like a dream. There's a little bit of a problem with the screws connecting the loading tube and the barrel, in that they don't stay in, which means I've been holding it together with duct tape.

I don't want to glue it, because the ability to separate these is integral to repairing and accessing the rest of the gun. So I've been looking for some kind of ring/clamp mechanism, such as one you might find on a real shotgun, which may connect the two tubes together.

I've done some searching, to no avail. Can anyone point me in the right direction here?

Thanks

loctite the screws. they'll stay in place until you unscrew them.

Not sure which ACM M500 you have... if it's the BE clone of the Marushin gas M500 SSB (3x8mm/5x6mm) the magazine tube is held by a ring which screw into the underside of the barrel (which also holds the locking mechanism for the BB loading tube): I'm guessing those are the screws you're talking about? Otherwise you've got some other ACM shotgun.

What's wrong with the screws anyway? They're stripped? Or the holes are stripped?

The clamp you're looking for is a magazine extension tube clamp. Something like this:

You can find it easily at any local sporting goods store that has firearms accessories: Mossberg 500/590s are very common hunting shotguns, probably second only to Rem 870s.

Coachster's suggestion about loctiting them is probably worth looking into as well.

That is exactly what I'm looking for, thanks Drake. And yes, you're right about the shotgun in question. The holes in the underside of the barrel are very badly stripped. It was pretty funny when I first cocked it and the whole loading tube came right off.

Loctite's not a bad idea. Would I still be able to unscrew them? I've never used the stuff before.

Also, after some searching, I can't seem to find a place in Canada that sells the shotgun clamps... anybody know a place?

Yes. You just have to get one that is meant to be broken by hand and not heat. Heck you could use some clear nail polish to hold the screws in place.

Just go to a sporting goods store that has firearms. There use to be a LeBaron in Toronto (in Markham or Mississauga, I forget), probably still around... or something similar. It's a minor accessory, shouldn't be hard to find.

Some models have rails or stuff on them, too, like to mount a flashlight.
