Picking BB'S?

Ok im sure this has been brought up a ton of times but I can't seem to find any threads on it.

I just got myself a VSR-10 g-spec and now I need to find some BB's for it. There are a tons of different weighted BBS and I have no idea what to buy.

So im wondering what is the best and what are the pros and cons of useing different weights.

Essentially the heavier the BB, the lower the FPS (impact force is roughly the same though AFAIK), but you gain accuracy and distance.

Buy a bunch of different weights and try them for yourself. Too bad they dont have "tester" packs with a bunch of different weights. *hint hint Scarecrow*

From my experiences, I've found BBBastard to be the best BB's (And I'm not just saying that because I'm selling them... I'm selling them because THEY are the best)

Outdoors: .25 will work for any FPS... .2 is really only good for chronoing, indoors and CQB.

0 to 250 FPS: .20
250 to 350: .25
350 to 420-450ish: .28
450 to 500ish: .3

Past 400 it's basically personal preference.

heavier BBs will also carry more energy over a greater distance, so where a 0.20g will lose impact power and velocity over a short distance, a heavier BB can carry much more energy to further distances.

Which is why a 0.25g BB would feel like it "hurts" more at long range versus a 0.20g BB.

hmm so I was told it should be running close to 500FPS. so i guess i'll have to get some .28's and .3's

Honestly, it's not good for a new sniper to start out super high FPS... it makes you reliant on your gun rather than your own skill.

For the first 6 months of using a VSR I used it absolutely stock firing about 280 fps... a year and a half later, I'm firing a comfortable 430 FPS

things that make you go hmmm. Never even thought about that. Thankfully im friends with jughead(seller) so maybe i'll down grade it a bit to work on my skill.

practice shots at a mode distance with different weights of bbs. I prefer heavier because sometimes one has to arch a shot which is great fun.

For the fps your gun *should* be running at, no less than 0.30g, and get a bag of 0.36g BBs too, both Bastards from Scarecrow. Send him a PM and buy a bag of each, they will last you a while, even if only 1000rds per bag.

So you bought Jarheads Gspec. I would talk to him about what BBs he liked for the gun.

Jarhead never really had it long. I think maybe a week or so. I have the VSR as well and I prefer KSC's or BB Bastard myself. I recommend the higher weights of .30+ as that gives you the best bang for your buck for snipers.

I was about to post that. Wes bought it a little while ago and upgraded/painted it. I'm pretty sure the only use it has seen was him and I shooting it at the edm swap/greet.
