ESS "Speed Sleeve" Isn't...
So I've got a pair of ESS NVG Profiles with OD "Speed sleeve" and I like the gear a whole lot but the damn sleeve is driving me nuts. Does anybody know if there's a trick to getting it slide smoothly (and maybe even speedily) over the goggles? Instead they continually get caught up on the rubber lips of the goggles and I feel like I'm going to rip the goggles apart while I fiddle with the elastic and getting it unhooked and slid around everything.
Not to mention that it seems like an incredibly difficult process to actual manage while the goggles are secured to the helmet and you're wearing gloves... Maybe I'm just encountering a very personal form of retardation but I can't figure it out (there's also the fact that I managed to spill some bleach on the sleeve and turn it slightly pink but that's another thing entirely) |

Good question... I resolved the issue by removing it entirely. :P I don't wear a helmet so the gogs are either sitting on my face or in the pouch; I didn't see the need to keep the sleeve on.

Well yeah, it's looking like just taking it off is the way to go. I just worry about scratching them up from being a dumbass or something. Might be time to get some of those peel-off plastic lens shields or something.

It's like taking off your pants before getting laid.
The more you fumble around the more you look retarded. Simply, use both hands to open it and pull. Like taking a sock off a door handle, kinda. Putting them back on is a little more difficult, but involves the same process of stretching the elastic and pulling it over in one smooth move. |

I've seen pics of soldiers with actual socks on theirs.

cut the sleeve. look at it see where it binds and cut the seam. bar tack it secure. you'll have that going faster than a cougar at a frat party.
