TM MP5 SD6 lower receiver removal

I was plinking with my TM MP5 SD6 this weekend and all of a sudden it stopped firing. I get a sound as the motor tries to spin, but it just heats up and won't fire.

This lead me to start taking apart the gun to get at the mechbox, however I can't remove the damned lower receiver. My experience is with CA guns, and not TM, which is my only excuse since this seems so simple. I've removed the pin which holds the stock on and removed the stock, and removed the pin near the magwell. Shouldn't the receiver just slide out towards the back now ?

I've pulled with a lot of force, but the damned thing won't budge. Am I missing something ?

Usually, you need to take out the motor and the 2 screws which hold the lower receiver to the mechbox. After you do that, the lower receiver won't slide back but down.

Oh yeah, and you'll have to take out the selector switch as well. There is a small screw on the bottom of one of the switches itself. From there you can remove the other side once you've taken out that side.

I've removed the motor and the 2 screws inside the grip, however I only see that being there to hold the mechbox onto the lower receiver. I thought that it all came out as one unit, with the mechbox still attached.

No, the mechbox is "attached" to the upper receiver. The lower should "drop down once you remove the two screws located above the motor (once you remove it).

www.mechbox.com has videos of the disassembly of the TM MP5.

That would be your best bet, seeing as they have 'to the point' instructional videos. Also whenever you are trying to dismantle something and one part isn't coming off like you think it should, don't try to force it off, that will only result in broken parts and headache for you later when you try to fix it.
Hope Mechbox.com helps you out.

That's why I posted here, instead of trying to rip it apart with brute force ;-)

Think I figured it out...I was doing it back-asswards, to coin a phrase. I was under the assumption that the mechbox was attached to the lower receiver and not the upper receiver.

Thanks for the clarification.
