Crappy mag catch

So having owned multiple M4 variants this is the first case where ive seen something like this.

I picked up a G&G GR16 R4 RIS and the mag catch is unlike any other ive seen. It litterally falls apart within firing off 1x 30rnd mag. Its not built like the ones where you simply screw in little allen key screw into the mag release button.. but instead the pieces just push together with no way of securing them. This has to be the shittiest design ive ever seen.. and on a rifle so nice I can't believe its rendered useless if after removing and putting in 1 mag the entire mag catch pops out and falls into 3 different pieces.

It could be glued, but the way its put together, you'd have no way of taking it apart when needed. Mag catches are as cheap as dirt... but it still doesn't solve the problem of how crappy this one is. lol!

For those who don't know what im talking about i'll try to get pics of it.. for those who have a little experience with them, maybe shed some light. Needless to say i'll be buying a new mag catch, as this one was falling apart out of the box brand new.

G&G backs their product, contact them about the defect and you should get a free replacement part. Here's their North American website: http://www.101techusa.com/

Just an update, 2 weeks later and 2 emails ignored. Any ideas?

(and just to let this be known. I'm not more so worrying about buying a new mag catch but its the fact that this came as a factory defect and the mag catch is absolute junk. so i'd like to atleast get a response)

Update: After emailing pics and info back and forth to a rep. from G&G they've offered to replace the parts but require my receipt. Which clearly I don't have the original receipt as it came from NY. All attempts at trying to contact the "seller" have failed which leaves me SOL. Atleast I know G&G backs their stuff!

I have a G&G mag catch, I believe. Yes it doesn't have a screw, but the button screws into the catch's rod. Is there a hole in the button?

Excuse the massive photos from this camera but you'll probably understand when you look at them.

The actual part (M16086) that catches the mag and the metal rod shaped part which the mag release button screws onto falls apart into two pieces. It seems that the catch and the rod are two pieces probably pressed together in the factory and meant to stay together. In this case they simply slide apart causing the entire unit to fall to pieces on the ground.

Checked the manual, apparently G&G's design doesn't involve a screw. That's a kick in the balls.

Gluing would prevent him from taking the mechbox out. His options are to tap it himself or replace it. Which is what I probably have to do with mine when it shows up. Fun.

I dealt with this peice of crap two weeks ago. Only way I could screw it in well enough to have it actually HOLD the mag was to take off the fake bolt release, hold the spring and button in place, and rotate the magcatch until I couldn't do it any more. Then I found that the gun badly misfired unless you pressed the mag up form the bottom, then it fed perfectly.

Cheap and easy solution is to buy a new mag catch. Don't even bother with that one.

To finalize the topic. They ended up sending me a new better mag catch, one that is made out of a single piece instead of two pushed together. Anyways the G&G person ive been speaking to has been more then helpful with all of this and I suggest to anyone else that ever has a problem to get in contact and work something out.
