From a "I've seen both as my target" experience, Here in Manitoba, TW Marpat is harder to see for more of the season than MultiCam. However, they do switch places in Spring and late fall where the TW Marpat sticks out. It's just a matter of knowing your surroundings. Then again, these are airsoft engagement distances... I'm sure they have different results when viewed from real world engagement distances.

It matters what area you are in, and how the area around you are. (Forests, rocks, sandy.. etc.)

For the police departments it probably depends on what terrain they are operating in as opposed to official military uniforms. In a city like Winnipeg we can have two or three months of the year where everything is brown due to cool spring weather, no rainfall etc. etc. Then we could have one of our infamous wet years and everything seems to be glowing green. So I would imagine the officers on these teams have more pull than any members of the CF would normally have as to what is an effective camoflage pattern for the kinds of operations they go on. Then again I could be wrong.

Gentlemen,
The official camouflage for the RCMP is indeed MultiCam. Before being aware of this some units ran out and spent their budgets on commercial Marpat, and will most likely use it until it fades or wears out. They will likely replace it in the next budget cycle. They are using Drop Zone Ops Shirts, Pants, Smocks, ModCan vests, Stubby Boonies, Ghillie suits and a vast array of pouches in Multicam. Some units such as those on the wet coast find MultiCam too light in coloration and are using a mixture of CadPat, Woodland and Marpat, with the leaning to Woodland that is IRR, due to its availability over CadPat. I hope this clarifies things. Kind Regards Brian Kroon

Send them an e-mail, maybe they can be recruited by you guys! Lol
Shot in the dark, but maybe they'd look "too American" in woodland, hence choosing multicam since not to many miltary units are using it currently (although I did see a training scenario involving the 101st Airborne a few months ago on TV and they were all decked out in MC). |
