Review: Felix Tactik Vegetato FXT/B BDUs
Update 08/14/08
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...light=vegetato When I received the package I was impressed by the colour scheme. I was somewhat concerned about the yellow/tan in the colour scheme when I ordered but was pleased to see that it was evenly distributed. Pros: Colour scheme is unique and appears to be well suited for gaming in the woods where ground cover is old leaves and trees allowing the brown, yellow/tan and darker colours to do their work. Grass land may be different though. I haven't gamed with these yet so I can't give any hard info on this. My OD-ish vest goes great with this colour scheme, I'd say more so than with my woodland BDU's. Update - Just gamed with them. Great for field play (ie. wood and grassland) where there's some dead grass/leaves mixed in, I haven't used them in full woodland areas though. I am very impressed with the scheme...kudos to the Italians. Pockets. I will never be short for a place to put something. This set has an incredible amount of pockets and they're well situated and angled for easy access to anything inside. A lot of pockets but not so much that it muddles with the pattern. Knee/elbow pad pockets. If you're someone who uses them, there are places to put them. Velcro. If you're someone who uses patches/name tags/whatever then you won't be short of a place to put them. They blend well with the pattern so they don't stand out much. If you're someone who doesn't use patches much (like myself) you might want to invest in some. Not to mention that anything that is a flap can be fastened by velcro instead of buttons. So much easier for one handed adjustments. I absolutely love the style on the shirt. I've always been one for flipping up my collar on my old woodland BDU's but these velcro around your neck, so much better. The shirt is zipped up rather than buttoned and the zipper is covered by a velcro fastened zipper cover. I gotta say, the zip up is way better than buttoning up a BDU top. Insures that your entire shirt is done up to the chin. Cons. The poly/cotton blend makes for a stiff out of the box feel to the BDUs but I'm going to give them a wash and see if they losen up. I'm not too keen on the feel inside, to the point of considering investing in a breathable long sleeve shirt. (but that's a preference thing) Some spare strings of material floating around inside the shirt, don't know if it's thread or just rough material from the cut. The buttons on the pants are a bit small, not your usual large thick smooth BDU buttons but smaller, almost dress shirt looking buttons which makes it harder to undo and do up. I was showing a team mate the pockets on the knees for pads, I went to open it up and ripped the pad pocket. I wasn't usuing all that much force which leads me to believe that there maybe be a bit of weak threading. I can't say that for the rest of the BDU because I'm not about to rip it up. As of right now that's all I have for cons. Great job on the BDU's and if they made them with more of a cotton to poly ratio I'd consider getting another set. I'll have to wait and see about any fading that may/may not occur but I read in his thread that he treats his BDU's to combat fading. Additionally, if a Xdraw or assault vest with this pattern was made, I'd definitely take it. (hinthint) Just got the hat(s) in the mail. Firstly, awesome job Cat on making up for a late package. This part of my order was delayed considerably probably due to supplier delays, and he provided me with the Boonie I asked for, a cap, and a helmet cover...Great designs and a shitload of velcro. Wow. I need to get some patches now, and I guess a helmet too I just played in a woodland setting, must say that I'm impressed. Granted the brown stuck out in the greener areas, and the yellow/tan stuck out in the shaded areas but all around it worked pretty well. It held up to a couple of spills that I took, one of which resulted in a roughed up knee but the material held strong. With my green vests I blended quite well. Definitely a recommendable and practical pattern. Newly added chairsoft pic. Just the upper and how well an OD vest works. Unfortunately still no in game pictures...still working on that. http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...ft/Photo54.jpg
