Lithium batteries?
Been pondering this for a while. I've noticed that Lithium powered batteries are replacing that of traditional Ni-Cad batteries, and it has me wondering about the batteries we use in airsoft as well.
I'm probably missing something, but can/will Lithium powered batteries replace the Ni-cad ones we use? |

yes, but Li Po (Lithium Polymer) are a lot more expensive. They can fit more power in a smaller, lighter package, so offer some insane high rof setup possibilities, or some insane mechbox wrecking moments, depending on the thoroughness of your preparations. Google for reviews on the KWA M4A1 with LiPo battery - set a world record for rof of over 30 (38? or was it 50? dun remember) rounds per second. The craziest part is, the internals are designed to handle it, and do. It's the only stock LiPo-ready AEG in production.

CheapBatteryPacks is a good place for batteries in general. They also have Hyperion chargers in stock, as well as the ability to custom build a battery pack to your specs.

The best computerized charger I've found is the Duratrax Intellipeak Ice charger. It's around $160 or so, but does any battery up to about 11-12V. You program in NiCad/NiMH/LiPO/LiIon, then the number of cells and capacity. After that you can charge, discharge, cycle, and recondition. I've been using them for maybe 2 years now.

I now run LiPo in my guns.
Great place for batteries and chargers is: www.hobbycity.com Great prices, fast shipping. The "Zippy" line of batteries is very good, and cheap, too. They also have some great chargers (e-station chargers are awesome; the Imax line of chargers are Chinese clones of e-station), as well as battery bags and cell balancer. I got a large battery bag, Imax B6-AC charger, Yuntong smart battery balancer, and Zippy 11.1v 4400mAH LiPo battery for $230 shipped. Received it in a little over a week via EMS.
