BB Bastard NPT Charger
Does anybody have this thing? Is it good? Do I need a discharger as well as a charger? I'm thinking of picking up Bastard's 2 battery+NPT charger pack for $125 or whatever. Just looking for opinions on what my best battery solution is.

I'd say it all depends on what gun you have.. the pack comes with 1 mini and 1 large battery. Other then that, the charger itself is great.

Been using mine for a few years now, no complaints at all. Scarecrow also provides excellent service.

the only complaint i have with it is, it wont charge past 3300mah, at least according to Scarecrow. I have yet to attempt it, but i asked him specifically about that.

Yeah, that is one weakness for sure. But its also the reason its inexpensive, the logic circuit in it is custom to the 900mah-3300mah range from 7.2 to 10.8v. If you're within that range, its a fire and forget charger. I have other batteries other than airsoft ones in that range and have made plug adapters to mine because it works that much better than the adapter that came with it - the AEP comes to mind - the original adapter heated the 7.2v battery waaaaaaaaaaaay to high so I cut the connector and hooked it up to the NPT charger and its charged like a champ ever since. I also use it for my radio and flashlight batteries.
Don't waste your money on discharge circuitry - a 12v automotive backup lamp is better - it drains the battery slower and gentler and you can tell when its done because the lamp goes out but it does leave enough juice for the battery to properly charge - but with NPT I find I only need to discharge my battery after 12 months or so (if that) or if I am going to store it for more than 3 months. There is a ton of information on my website about the NPT process - I recommend you have a read, its explains why the NPT charging process is superior to peak charging. And indeed if you have any problem with it at all, I exchange it completely, as I do with all my products. I also do same or next day expedited shipping. |

P.S. I have to do a reorder as I have only one charger left in stock...

cool, thanks for your help guys. i'm buying it for a CA MP5 i'm getting off Goldman at the moment, so it sounds like they can be friends. i wanted an extra battery, but also one to use with the full stock or one fitting in the foregrip (whichever i decide i prefer). this package is extremely convenient.
save that last charger for me, Scarecrow. i'll place an order this weekend. |

sorta off topic, but how long would an 8.4v 2300mah battery last in a TM M14? I ask because i bought a 3600mah battery but i will sell it if the 2300 is good enough. I have heard accounts of the 2300 being insufficient and the 3600 being overkill. what are your thoughts?

Do you sell the charger only? Because I suspect your large battery won't be enough for me to crank my systema m150 gearbox (with a prometeus MS135 spring in it). Am I right?

Yes, depends on how you play and how 'tight' your box is. The more higher upgraded and the tighter the box the more power the gun draws down on the battery - I have an M16A4 upgraded with a PDI 170 and a good shim job that isn't overly tight and a silent piston kit. I routinely drive that with a large 2300mah 8.4v. I also use that gun in a sort of SAW capacity so I do lean on the trigger...
