Definitive Answer: Propane in KSC G18c

I've been around forever (going on 5 years) but have been in and out of the sport. Anyway, I am getting too many conflicting answers and reports so I want something cut and dry.

Bone stock, plastic bits et all, can a KSC Glock 18c handle propane?

I know upgraded ones can no problem, but I'm wondering how long mine will last with propane. Feel free to flame me for not caring to search more than 2-pages into the results for more mixed answers.

I shot mine a few hundred bbs on prop before I upgraded to metal slide/barrel, recoil rod, & hammer spring
never had a problem with it then but i have always heard rumours of plastic busting on propane

Thanks! That's all I needed. Not too worried about the thing blowing up as parts are pretty easy to come by for the thing and I always wear eye protection when handling airsoft and real steel.

I've got a G26c and after a few mags a piece of the notch on the slide broke off. So I'm looking for a metal slide. I used Green Gas from A&A.

007 carries metal slides, but he rarely seems to have much in stock these days. Damn Customs.

I'll probably be ordering a metal slide for my G18c soon, mostly for durability. They go for $145, seemingly regardless of GBB make/model.

If you run it stock on propane, yeah, the first thing to go will be the notch for the slide stop. I fixed mine with some sheet metal and kept going. The next thing, altogether more serious, was the slide splitting at the seam up front. If you look on the inside, there's a small metal frame at the front. The plastic will split in half and slowly separate off of the metal part. I ended up gluing it back to the metal, and it lasted a little while longer, while I was looking for a metal slide.

That's the only thing I've seen go is the slide catch notch. Do yourself a favour, if wanting to run propane first then get a metal slide later, get an enhanced recoil spring and install it in your plastic slide, it'll absorb some of the rearward energy. I've been running plastic slides for a few years now on GBBs (mostly G19s and my MK23) and none have shown any damage except for a smearing of the notch. An X-acto knife fixed that for good in each case.

Bauholzwolf, metal slides are not restricted. lower frames are.
