well i know that for the g36, you can convert it to take m16 style mags. if you can do that for the sl-8, then you could find shorter style mags that meets your requirements. if you ask me, that mag look like a m14 style mag with an enlarged baseplate.

IIRC those mags arent made for airsoft, they are the 10 rounders for the real SL8 i think....

No the magwell shown in the pic is an sl8 exclusive which prevents the use of real steel g36 mags.

I am aware of the m4 magwell conversion. It would be better to have a g36 mag with the length shown on the pic since std g36 mag is too long for a low profile gun such as the sl8. Maybe I could modify a G36 midcap....

I believe ASC member JavP did that with his G36 many years ago, perhaps you should ask him how it was attempted. The end result looked really good using a standard TM locap.

Private parts magwell.. Then use the M16 Vietnam style magazines?

That's the best I can think of.

the 50 round mags are still the long type. I dunno if this is helpful but the best i could think of. Its not the medium type its the shorter ones but hey...they still do their job :P theyre small and meant for the SL8
