FAMAS/G3(SG/1) Experiances and Insight

Reason behind this thread is probably obvious, I'm 18 in 7 days and looking to get in with a friend that plays in Calgary. I've been on the forums and reading for quite a few months. So anyways to the meat of the sitution....

I've read very "mixed" reviews about the FAMAS, some swear by its high torque version 1 gearbox and ungodly RoF. But on the other hand, I've heard it creaks, breaks down, blah blah blah..... But still, I speak french as well as english and perhaps wanted to go for a french theme, and I havent lost all hope on the FAMAS.

Then recently, while looking at the Greman army composition, and browsing the pages of H&K site (Favorite gun manufacturor), I was inspired by the alternative choices of weaponry they posses over the old m16/m4 of the USMC. Anyways, i don't like the idea of mini batteries so the G36C was out of the question. Thats when i happend to see the G3, a gun I recognized from a old video game. I did some research, and many European nations seem to use it standardly, or modified (Norway).

Apart from my accidental ramblings, I am very inspired by European firearms engineering, and I tend to believe alot in TM. So, out of the G3 or G3(SG/1) and FAMAS, i wanted some experianced opinions. I have 700$ ATM, but i have a job so money isent a huge worry.

Thanks for reading through, this ended up a bit longer than I expected =/.

So, insights, experiances and thoughts!

well if you insight to the G3 i'm a die hard G3 fan and if you live in calgary you can get on the JOC. i would go with the G3 why cause with a 700 budget on a gun i would get a CA full metal G3 its worth the money that G3 is so strong i could beat silly with it. another reason why to go with the G3 is because its got more upgrade options compared to the FAMAS.

here what i did to my G3 after a few 100 bucks got put in to it. my custom built HK G3KA4.

Oh, I dident notice CA made a full metal version. Out of the box what model of G3 was it? An A3 or SG/1 (or maybe some other obscure model). And sorry for sounding like a tool, but what is JOC? I was thinking more along the lines of 007.

It's worth noting that mini batteries these days are actually very good.

I see... So if minis are a option, is the TM g36c a good choice or does CA make a better g36.

Actually I think im going for a full stock G3, not so much for the big battery, but the full stock comepliments the guns long style. And i just saw the wood kit on it. Sexiest thing i've other seen.

I love my FAMAS. Personally, I doubt it'd ever break down, and I researched it quite a bit before I bought it- almost no one has had a FAMAS break down on them. They're quite soundly built, and if you know what you're doing, upgradeable.

Great range on them, too, I hit the same range as my friend's Redwolf Custom SPR he spent $2000 on. That pissed him off more then a little.

Huge inner barrel, but a very small, tight package perfect for CQB. Creakiness is fixed with a bit of cleverly-placed tape on contact points on the inside, where the plastic rubs together.

Still, I can't say this is better then a G3, because I really don't know. Either way, it's a matter of opinion- they both have their ups and downs.

my CA G3 is a G3-SG1 but CA likes call to it the SAR Tarkit II rifle because they got the licensing deal with SAR to use real trades.

Having owned both, CA makes a better G36 IMO.

in my opinion famas is a very great choice. Most of the creeks can be fixed with tape like bob said. As for Rate of fire and range, the gun performs well on both fronts. Its long barrel is perfect for long range attacks where as its small design makes it perfect for cqb aswell. Its rate of fire is perfect for support fire but shooting at 17 rounds per second will require atleast 2 hi caps if you do want to be support gunner. If you want more info on upgrades for the gun just visit this site http://airsoftfamastech.jconserv.net/index.php. Just beware you will needa know what the hell your doing with a v1 gear box if you plan on upgrading the gears and such
