After using AEG/Storing AEG question

I remember reading that after each AEG use, one should dry fire a few shots in semi or auto? to make sure there are no more bbs and to uncompress the spring of the AEG.

Any corrections or advice on this topic would be appreciated.

Sorry if this was asked b4, I couldn't find any posts to answer my question.

Yup, just fire it once or twice with the mag out to make sure the spring is uncompressed. If your batterys weaked after a days play, Put a new one in first before doing so to make sure it doesnt jam, even though its highly odd that it would, but its possible.

fire once or twice without the mags in semi-auto only
then disconnect battery and store

Semi will decompress the spring, auto might not.

Also, I thought you should never dry-fire the gun...?

I'd rather blank fire my guns twice for safety reasons to ensure they aren't hot

Once or twice is fine, its those long, meaningless full auto spurts that will do your gun some harm and reduce about 20000 bb's out of its life.

If you're worried about dry-firing, do it with your barrel plug on. It will provide enough back pressure to prevent your piston head from slamming in to the gearbox completely unrestricted.

I asked this elsewhere, but it kinda applies here too, so I'll ask again. When it's time to clean and lubricate, and you buy Silicone Oil, you'd want around 10,000WT, right? Or is there a difference between 10,000WT and 10WT? I assume that they're the same, but I've never read 10,000WT in Airsoft, only 10WT, so I want to make sure I haven't done something terribly wrong.

I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to terminology, so if someone wants to call me a dumbass and say 10WT is the same as 10,000WT, please do, or corrent me if I'm wrong.
