Problem loading TM MP5

My friend has a TM MP5 PDW that he bought a long time ago when a few of us were going to get into the sport. We ended up having troubles getting enough people interested so the gun went into the closet. Interest has regrown and now he would like to use it however he is having problems getting the BBs to feed from the mag into the gun. We fill the mag up and wind the little wheel on the bottom of the mag and then as soon as you put the mag into the gun you can hear the wheel lose all of its tension. Holding the wheel down made no difference. The only way he can get the gun to shoot is by holding it upside down. Is there something we're missing here?

Sounds like the mag is screwed up..try getting a lowcap mag..one that you dont have to wind up..when he put the gun away did he leave the bb's inside the mag over a long period of time? that will loosen up the spring greatly..makeing it not as strong.

Try winding it when it's already in the gun.

Ya, no kidding. MP5 high caps tend to unwind when you put it wound into the gun. Put it in the gun then wind the wheel, see what happens. Could also be that the feedpath in the gun and the mag both need a bit of silicon oil (hobby shops) in order to feed properly if it hasn't been used much.

Did anyone ever show you how to fill a hicap? I've seen new folks who were using a loading tube and tring to feed the BB's into the mag that way...

You open a port, pour in the BBs, and start winding until it clicks/skips. Insert into gun, have fun, rewind on occasion. If that does not work, have someone look at the mag.
