Ghillie Suit Advice

I am looking at purchasing a commercially available Ghillie Suit, probably from Bushrag.

I am wondering what experiences others have with these suits, and if you reccommend a one peice long jacket style, or the pants and jacket two peice style.

Thanks in advance to all who comment.

Two piece. Better to have the option and not use it then to have no option.

True nuff! Often having a ghillie on the legs hinders movement.

BTW, one thing about the BushRags (that I've seen) is they are more stalker suits, not sniper suits in so far as being able to crawl.

If yo uare looking into doing the sniper role on occasion, why not take the time to do the "right of passage" and make your own? Or is spare time few and far between for you?

You hit that nail right on the head. Time is very hard for me to find.

Ya, thought so, it's not a quicky peice of gear by any means. Plus making your own is very messy at times.

Making your own ghillie is an experience, you learn to appreciate it more that way.

LD I bought a bushrag ghillie before last season, it works really well out here in Alberta. I have the 2 piece, only complaint is I ripped it pretty good one day with just a little snag of a branch, but i just stiched (sp) the mesh back up. It is a little harder to crawl prone in as your belly picks up so much shit.

I too would have liked to build a ghillie for myself, I calculated what the cost fo time would have been and it was a deal to buy the pre made suit

Cost of time?... What the hell? YOU CHARGE YOURSELF?!

In the long run, pre-made suits are less cost over-all. Sure, I may have only spent $80-90 total, including a cheap woodlands BDU jacket and bonnie; but my advil costs skyrocketed. Oh, and while you're factoring in time, don't forget time of unplugging all the jams that the loose burlap causes in your vacuum! Joking aside, its been a lot of fun just getting a base ghillie made up, and knowing it'll never be finished is the best part, because you're always adapting it, touching up, finding new shit to tie into it, and sewing on advil pouches.

If you typically bill at $500 an hour... spending 8 making a Ghilli just does not make sense...

Not trying to be a dick but in the position I work I have to judge my what the cost is vs my time.

I build hotrods as well and things like if I need a part that I can machine or buy, if it takes me 2 hours to machine it but the piece is only $100 I will buy the item.

Now i'm not a fancy lawyer but I figure my time is worth $90 hour

Personally iv'e made 2 of my own and bought one of the 2 peice bushrag ones. First one i made was terrable, then bought the bushrag, then made the second adn its better than both. Problem is making a good suit take a lot of time, but is in my opinion more appreciated.
