TM MP5 SD6 Issue #2
Hey guys, my brother has an MP5 but is having this wierd loading issue... someitmes it will go through a whole mag just fine and others it will only fire like 5-10 rounds and then quit. You have to take the mag out and put it back in again and it fires fine again for the most part. He has a Hi cap, and two mids and the problem happens with all of them, so it has to be the gun. Just wondering if what you guys thought it might be? And how he might go about fixing it?
Thanks in advance.

More info regarding "it just quits" would be helpful. What's the sound, does it cycle yet not spit BBs out, has it been lubed ever................. you know, the usual info thing.

Sorry, I was being rushed to leave the house I was going to be more detailed when I got back.
But yes, to elaberate on that. Its most comparable to dry firing I suppose, then you take the mag out and put it back in as if a fresh mag and it shoots fine again. Sometimes for a whole mag, sometimes for just 5 BBs. Its quite strange to me as its never happened to my M4 and its the only AEG I've ever owned.

I had some problems with MP5s that the mag would actually wobble itself enough that after a few shots, sometimes many, it would be loose enough just from natural vibrations that it would no longer feed.
I had to manually hold the magazine tight into the magwell... Try that, see if it's the case. If not, is it the same magazines that are feeding a few, or is it a total hit or miss? |

I had the similar thing happen with a TM MP5 SD6, and all 5 TM lows would misfire. What I found was if I loaded 10 less than a full mag it would shoot every bb. Now you may say it was the magazines, but I tried it in a TM MP5 PDW, with fully loaded mags and it shot everyone. So try to load 5-10 less bb's.
Sorry this isn't really a fix, but this is what I have ended up doing...

First things first, go through your mags with a black magic marker. On the mags that hiccup, put an X on them and go through the mags several times to rule out the mags themselves.
Second, try lubing the Hop up as Stalker suggested. Do this even as you test your mags. I assume that your AEG maintenance/repair expertize is on the lower end ((not a problem)), to lube the hop up just turn the gun over and let a drop of silicone oil into the feeding tube and dry fire it a bit. Third, if its not the same mags over and over, and lubing doesn't help, you're going to need to find a gun doc to help you take it apart to check the alignments inside to make sure that everything is where it should be.

I had a similar problem while using low caps in my AUG.
The problem was that the little bumper on the end of the spring was catching on the inside of the mag and would stop forcing BB's upward as a result. I took apart my mag, cleaned everything, applied some lube to the spring and anywhere the spring made contact with the mag then reassembled. Good as new. This problem was on and off so it was hard for me to work out, when it jams remove the clip very carefully, pull the catch on the top of the clip and let the BB's fall out, if the little plastic end cap doesnt shoot to the top, you know what to do If the end cap does shoot up then you might have knocked it out of its jam. So, clean it anyway... there is gonna be dirt in there that is getting into your hop up and barrel, and a nice clean + lube never hurts anything. |

The problem is the barrel is sticking in the outter barrel remove it an lube it and then try it
you probably noticed the feed issue gets worse in the colder weather
