AEG input need?

Now I'm looking into buying my first AEG after carefuly research into sidearms and finaly going to order one I think I'll be happy with so now I need a main weapon to complete things so I can start getting some gamming in. The AEG I've been looking at is a H&K G3 SG/1 , I found a couple of reviews on the TM version and it sounds good, I've also looked at the Classic Army one witch is full metal but can't find any reviews on it.Looking at the SG1 it seems like a nice all round weapon for field use. What I need is some input from any one that owns one of the two, would like to know how it feels and if there are any problems with eather one, how it dose in the field and such. Any input it greatly appreciated, and thank you for your time and help! :salute:

Update: Found a review on the CA full metal, its said to better then TM out of the box but the review was from a retail site so can't really take it as being 100% true.

That dose not answer my question, if you read my post, I already have searched for reviews and want more input as to the difference between the TM and CA SG1 rifle and looking for owner input as to how its been doing in the long turn!
I know you guys deal with a lot of dumb noobs posting stupid things, I have been reading and searching the fourms and web and just want to ask a legit question!!!!

I second this.
The reviews section holds a lot of great info don't get me wrong... but the content seems to lean well toward those who already have at least a moderate amount of experience/ comparative knowledge of AEGs and the like.
For those of us who are truly interested in Airsoft as a recreational sport and a lifelong (hopefully) hobby, the first purchase is a big deal.
We're not looking for trophies or pieces of teenage social machismo points, but for an investment more along the lines of a first car in terms of material/ functional value, so especially if we don't have a rich mommy and daddy to muy us a Mustang we need to know what will get us the most mileage and satisfaction.
These types of questions are not meant to annoy, thet're meant to show a line of respect and commitment.

The only thing wrong with my TM SG1, when I had it, was the body creak.
That got solved real fast by simply removing the annoying bipod, and using about 2 inches of electrical tape.

It's a very nice gun, but if size matters, it's big.

I used to own the Tokyo Marui one.

They do make a decent sniper platform should you go that route, and if your an ammo pig and like cheater mags the G3 hiCap holds a whopping 500 rounds.

There are a couple downfalls however ...
1) As already mentioned, there is body creek. Not severe, but the gun is long and the plastic body does flex a bit.
2) Used G3 mags are pretty rare when compared to the sales of just about any other type of magazine.
3) The flash hider is actually held on by a small grub screw, instead of threading onto the outer barrel. If the grub screw gets loose, the flash hider will simply fall off.
4) Used parts are not all that abundant here on ASC.

That's the skinny I guess.

Thank you for your replys this helps, I'm leaning towards a CA SG/1 now cuz its full metal the only con I guess is that its heavy as hell but I guess thats good too since that just makes it more real feeling when lugging it around in the field, the common thing I hear about the TMs are screws coming lose and falling off but have not heard/read any thing like that about the Classic Army HK SG/1, the only thing I wonder about CA AEGs is they all seem to have CA motors in the specs un like TM where there is different types of upgrade motors, is the CA motor any good? can it be changed for a TM motor in the future for an upgrade like if I wanted to put in a TM 700 or 1000 motor?

The reason for not finding reviews on the CA SG1 is that it's not really out yet. My friend said he saw it at the CA store in Hong Kong, but don't think it's for sale yet as it's more like a display piece.

CA internals are top notch, so you can't go wrong with it. Pop an email to ASC Armoury and ask if they can pre-order one for you, and they should have more detail date on its arrival since they directly deal with CA.

For the extra bit of price, IMO is worth it to go with the CA having full metal bodies and all.

CA's have drastically improved over time. their earlier guns were unreliable and literally crap. CA learned from their mistakes and then the CA M15 series and MP5 BT series came along. Everyone who bought a new versions of the CA's were just awestruck internals and external wise. Can't wait for the CA SG-1 too lol. another hole in the wallet...

I would also agree with BBS. The latest versions of their mechboxes are very nice. They don't quite look "Japanese perfect" but they have also made alot of improvements we'd like to see TM do, so the pros kind of outweigh the cons now.

Full metal SG1's weigh a ton, especially a TM one with an old-skool CA metal body and cocking tube. The two I've used each weighed in in the 16-18 pound category with a battery....

Might be something to think about depending onthe role you want to play - you're not going to want to assault all day with something like that, especially if you have puny girlie-man arms.

I'm a electrican, I carry around heavy ladders and tools all day going up and down flights of stairs, a 20 pound rifle will be a walk in the park!
