Multicam question
K this is a question for all the multicam users out there. What does MC perform like in twilight hours (eg: dusk and dawn) Due to it's quite light complexion i was wondering if this is a drawback at all? I know it performs well in most conditions due to the pattern and fabric (blending pattern and general reflective to the surroundings qualities), but twilight does strange things to colour and colour perception....
Reason being i'm thinking about getting a set once i have the cash, and i'd like to have some first and impressions from users. Pip |

Well,Pip...
I think you'll find plenty of pictures and comments about how MC perform. For me, I found that MC perform well with shadows comming from the underbrush and trees foliage. It help to add a 3D deepth to a static camoflage. Cheers! |

I use Multicam almost exclusively now for hunting. Great in low light. I have used it mid summer as well on EX as enemy force and it's pretty good.
The only time I find Cadpat better is when everything is greened up - late spring.

I can say from personal expereince it works incredible at night under a full moon, it takes on various shades of grey and doesn't look like a black silhouette (that cadpat and woodland look like) moving around.

just back from keystone and multicam may work good at night when your looking at yourself but it sticks out like a sore thumb if someone else is looking at you. we stood right next to guys in marpat.. they were invisible and we stuck out... bad like we had lights on under our gear in a full moon. if you could get to the shadows it was ok, but if the moon touched ya you might as well had a glowstick around your neck i love multicam and use it under all conditions except at night

I too noticed the Multicam was much brighter at night then the other camo's. The Marpat and Cad was definately better under those conditions. Multicam was quite discernable if you were not hiding in vegetation.

Agreed. Marpat, cadpat and woodland definately were better at night in Manitoba.

It really depends on several different factors. I know from personal experince here in Ottawa that multicam works wonders at night in a full moon. Most people walked right on by me.
The major factors are location, how much ambience there is around you, and how much moonlight. You need atleast 2/3 of them for it work properly. |

I just got home from vacation and wore my multicam jacket at night because it got a little cold at night and being on the shore of Lake Huron made a chilly night chillier. Last night we were setting off fireworks. When the flashlights were off and there was nothing but the 3/4 moonlight that left shadows, by brothers inlaw and father inlaw all asked each other, "where is _____"?
They said it several times and I always let em know where I was by flashing my light on the ground. They all know little to nothing about camo and could not see me. They wore bluejeans and sweatshirts in colors of green, black, tan and grey. Grey was the hardest for me to see and only noticeable because they were wearing dark bluejeans and all stuck out like dark blobs. As for those that say multicam is very visible at night, well they just might be washing them wrong. Some of you serious airsofters may want to take a page out of the hunters handbook and wash your camo properly. I use the stuff called sports wash and then I only use half of what they say to. They (the camo) keeps its near IR reflective properties from the mil-spec factory specifications. It will also keep you from being "brightened" by that stuff made to keep your wifes brights bright. You may not think it but someone with good nightvision will like you alot if you are on the otherside and wash your camo in such detergents. If you hunt and are out before sunup and out after sundown, you will be nothing more than a big giant glowstick saying "stayaway"!!!! I know one thing hunters and airsofters have in common and that is weapons maintenance. We all clean our weapons to function properly, we all must also do the same for our camo, because as far as I am concerned my camo is a weapon also. Anything that aids me in killing is a weapon and I will treat every piece of equipment as such. |
