TM beretta will not fire, totally befuddled

After recently installing a new srping in my beretta, the gun no longer shoots. I took off the grips and pulled the trigger and noticed that the little flap that is supposed to push the valve of the mag isent going far enough to let out any gas. I thought the problem was the trigger bar but after much tinkering have become frusterated and am hoping someone might have some insight as to why this is happening...
