Hi,

I just brought a brand new airsoft and I'm about to charge the full-cold battery. Can you please tell me how long will I need to charge it? Thanks.

Charger Details :

Im not a 100% on this but I would say about 3hrs 1/2.

1050Mah / 300Mah = 3.5

Is that right...

I see. How about the initial charge? Battery is full brand new.

well i charged mine to half of the batterys charge so about 1500Mah then ran it dead then charged it to full. but thats what i did.

What settings does your charger have?

If it has a fast charge option which then defaults to slow/trickle charge, I'd use it and let it sit on the trickle charge for about 1/2 hour after the fast charge option finishes.

If it only has slow/trickle charge then for an initial charge I'd leave it on for about 8hours.

Charging it partially whether new or not, you are only asking for a memory to form.

It is a NiMH so that means no memory occuring.

The nickel metal no memory is not always true. Nickel metal can still form memory just not as easily as Nickel cadium ones. I've got 2 Nickel Metals with memory effects on them, which I got thrown in on a deal.

I'll have to dig through my old shop boxes and see if I can find the service letter that I recieved when I worked in electronic repairs about NiMh batteries and the memory effects.

But typically an initial charge on a battery is longer then a standard recharge.

Hi, I googled regarding the 3.5 hrs charge time and have confirmed it. The formula for the calculation posted by ma is the same formula that I found on 4 - 5 websites (i forgot the sites though). Sorry I didn't posted this reply asap. I was very sleepy and somehow fell asleep while watching a tv. : )

NiMH batteries have a different chemical makeup than the NiCd and are not really effected by memory lost. It is also not recommended to deep cycle the NiMH batteries as it could damage it. When you are charging the NiMH battery, always check that they do not overheat. Heat is a killer for these types of battery.

With a new battery, it is recommended to charge your battery at half their capacity. This is why it takes longer for the initial charges. After a few times, you can charge about 2X the capacity.

Since you don't have one of those smart chargers, I would agree with the 3.5 hours charge time. Just check the battery if it gets hot while it is charging. If it does, unplug it and let it cool before recharging.

Also, with NiMH batteries, it's best to recharge them just before you need to use them. Even if they have been charged but left unused, they have a high self-discharge rate.
