Securing HATCH knee pads
I'm having a little trouble with my HATCH knee pads, specifically, they keep sliding out of position after a little movement.
Can anyone suggest some things I might do to help keep them in place during games, so that I don't constantly have to readjust them? Here are some basic questions too, to help guide this a little. Both the pads look the same, except for the way the velcro goes in the back, left-to-right or right-to-left. Which one is supposed to go on which knee? (They are not labelled.) How should the velcro be attached in the back, specifically with regards to positioning behind the knee? Should the straps be very separated or close together in the center? Thanks for any help you can provide. |

I wear mine with the plastic loop on the outside of my legs. And I strap them as far apart as I can get them. I love mine, but they aren't without their uncomfortable periods, namely on the back of my leg above my knee. During downtime I'll just slide them done to make shin pads out of them to cool my leg and get some relief from the mild chafing.

I don't use them anymore unless I am playing in a gravel pit hehehe
I find that actually pinning the top of the pad to your BDU's stops them from slipping down. Then you don't have to cinch the straps so tight, as all they need to do is hold the pad to your knee. That and a little duct tape wrapped right side out on the straps to stops the straps from shifting on your leg and buching up in the crook of your knee. I even tried to pin the straps as well, but one pin poped open on me once, got me right in the soft part of the back of knee. Use locking Safe-T-Pins for this application! Take the time to tweak them, and they can actually be quite comfortable.

I found that if you attach the top strap loosesly (with the velcro sticked to the first pactch available) and the lower one tight, they stay in place quite well and don't hurt behind the knee when crouching.
They are suposed to sit a little low on the knee, so when you get on your knees, they are placed corecly. For me, they just position themself naturally. If it still don't work, you can sew some paracord to yout BDU pants to tie them into place, like on the higher end custom BDU.

I've seen people wear them with the lower loop only, forgoing the top loop completely. I've tried it myself, it does feel pretty good when kneeling down.
