Support weapon!!

I have a TM SR-16 and want to use it as a support weapon, but i'm not sure wich mag to get. I really like the look of the double C mag but should I get the auto-winding?? Is it worth it because theres not a big difference in price??? Or should I just get the box mag???

Thanks

Personal preference really. Which one do you like the most, which ones weight are you going to want to lug around once full of BB's.

C-mags are kind of nice as they tend to keep the BB's tighter which a spring loaded loaded to help minimize some of the rattle noise, where (I might be wrong on this) if I'm not mistaken the drum mags are gravity fed like a hicap.

Make your own. Check the gallery or PM Daes for the instuctions on how to make it. He said the hardest part is getting the brass tube to line up so the bbs feed ok. It's fairly cheap and his holds 4000BBs with an insulated box so you can't hear the rattle.

Daes is the man for making box mags.

I made a support weapon out of my SR16.

Hurricane reinforced mechbox
Systema extra hard steel bushings
Systema ultimate torque gears
Systema tightbore
Systema silicone piston head
PDI 150%
8.4v 3000mah battery
backup 9.6v (x2)
M4 carry handle
Z rail
Rockmount bi-pod on harris adaptor
Hero Arms Cmag

Get the auto-winding.
a note, Apoc has 4-5 cmags and has had problems with extended use. the auto winding gears are plastic and tend to get chewed up over time.

The V2 internals of the SR16 dont take lightly to extended cmag use.

The fields where I play dont allow for Cmags anymore, so I sold mine to wiseowl.
fun, but know what your getting into.

also, makes it rather uncomfortable to hold as you have to reach around the Cmag.

There's a trend towards having limited ammo loadouts in the games in Quebec also. C-mags are really useless in our games. Only dedicated weapons like the M60 and the M249 would be allowed to carry more bbs(1000rds). If you have games that do allow C-mags, I would think the autowinding version is prefered.

I have a C-mag that runs on a pressure switch and I had no problems having it winded also. Just stick the switch close to your thumb and it's easy to activate it when you want.

Double C mags are a good choice. Check redwolf airsoft. They have a nice selection.

Droc, if you don't mind me asking: what did it cost to upgrade your gun internally?

thanks.

what you have there is pretty much what wish to do... perhaps an m4-s but most likely an sr-16.

how is it holding up? did you try and run it with the stock motor box? I assume the v2 won't stand up to the heavy shooting all to well

i ran it stock for 1 game with the Cmag. but its risky. My 1st game with the Cmag, I went through 6,000 bbs in 1 day. I wouldnt expect stock internals to stand up to much more continal shooting.
But the Cmag left when I put in the internals. With that setup, it was hitting +400fps.
but honestly, AEG internals shouldnt really be support platforums. yes it can be done. but the guns arnt ment to be machineguns.
Compare a V2 internals with those of the CA M249 SAW. Its mechbox is a tank for a reason.

I'm not a huge fan of the classic saw's

I like guns that have been adapted to the role, M4's, m16's, g36's etc.

you find your upgraded internals are working out alright?
