TM G36C semi auto problem (electrical?)

While putting the stock spring back in my TM G36 C I initially didn't notice that the offset spring that attaches to the contact and the post of the mechbox was not attached correctly. I hooked up the battery just to make sure all was right before I re-assembled the gun and got a bit of heat and smoke. i quicklt disconnected the battery and fixed the problem with the spring.

I tried the gun on full auto and it cycles just fine but on semi it will fire once and then on next trigger pull it sort of makes a weak movement and then fires again on the next pull etc...

I thought it may be a gear issue or reversal latch problem but it doesn't appear so. Could a slightly fried motor do this? or is it something else. Thanks for your help.

can a you give a few more details?

Are you doing a full pull of the trigger when it's on semi? You pull the trigger and hold it back till it fires.

Does it work completely fine on full auto? You can pull the trigger several times and it shoots bursts every time?

If it does that with no problems, i'd assume the motor is fine.

Just a single pull, no holding in place. Full auto is perfect. I'm actually looking into the old cutoff lever now. I may have just been fixated on it being an electrical thing because of the smoke

Thanks
