A Question About Flecktarn

I first wore Fleck while playing "enemy force" in the Military and loved it. This stuff works great for pretty much any terrain that I came across. It is still my pattern of choice. I need to find more of it, but all the suplus stores I have seen it in only have it in midget sizes. Anyone know where to get this stuff in a 2XL?.

How to wash a uniform when its new:

1. When you first get it home, wash it (dont wear it to a game first)

2. Wash alone preferably for the first few times. Some people wash with dark clothing wich is fine, as long as thoes are clean and wont add dirt into the water.

3. Turn them inside out before washing them. This will help keep the color in the fabric. I dont know why this works, It just does!

4. Wash in COLD water only! (For the first few times, then you can go to warm. Using hot at ANY POINT seems to contribute to fading).

5. Dont wash it with detergent or softeners. They are clean already when you buy them, there is no reason to add soap to the water. Soap creates a film which gets into the fabric, and if it doesnt rinse out 100%, then it will help fade the uniform.

6. DO NOT PUT IT IN THE DRYER FOR AT LEAST 5-10 WASHINGS! Drying the uniform frays the fibres and durring the next wash, the color will come out of thoes fibres, which will start the fading. Hang dry the uniform untill the color has completely set into the cloth (again usualy after 5-10 depending on the fabric)

Tips for keeping the uniform looking new:

1. I usualy wash and hang dry my new uniform about 2 or 3 times before wearing it outside.

2. Once i wear it outside, i will continue to wash it alone, with only a very LITTLE bit of soap. I usualy also add more water to the washer then requires for a better rince. For example, if washing alone, a small setting would do, but ill use medium so there is more water to dilute the soap durring the rince.

3. Continue washing the uniform inside out

4. Continue to hang dry the uniform

5. Wash it with darks only, NEVER with towels or other Fluffy cotton type materials (socks, etc).



These tips arnt any sort of bible to keeping a uniform from fading. Sometimes the dye are just crap (such as first gen cadpat) and no matter what you do after a while it will start to fade. But ive managed to keep my first gen cadpat with the crappy dye looking brand new even after paintball with these tips, so it does work! My danish and multicam have both seen quite a lot of action, and they also look brand new. My friends multicam after 4 games started to fade and he was blaming the material, yet both out uniforms were made from the same roll of cloth.

Again these are just my findings, im sure other people have other tips as well
