DSG Problem
So I’ve built my first ever DSG, and I’m having a big problem.
After building the Gearbox, Retro Arsm Shell, like a normal gearbox, then doing the things necessary for a DSG (Tappet cit, piston release teeth cut down, etc.), I put it all together and when firing it just doesn’t want to work. I am using a Spectre Mk.II that I transferred from another gearbox btw. After plugging a battery in, and pulling the trigger, it shoots maybe one shot if I’m lucky then all it does is click. The Spectre app says cycle detection error, never had that before. So I took the upper off since it is split and the gears spin and work completely fine with the upper portion of the GB taken off. But when upper is put back on it doesn’t cycle. Compression is great, piston moves freely in the upper, nothing is wrong in the upper, but it just doesn’t cycle. Any help would be appreciated. Let me know what you need info wise if anything else. DSG is SHS 8T with 16:1 Gears.

What spring?
What battery? What motor?

Guarder SP160 Spring
Tried 2 batteries, one Airsoft Logic 1450mah 11.1V and a Venom 50-200C 1000mah 11.1V Motor is an ASG Infinity 30000

if it clicks, it's because it can't pull that spring back.
try using an 18k motor, and make sure the cycle is stopping with the piston full forward. 30k motors need a shitload of current to handle precocking. |

Damn, just bought this motor too. Alright, guessing using a SP120 wouldn’t be wise for a DSG for a game this weekend? Lol

Question though, why is it I see lots of people using SP160’s and 16TPA motors together no problem? I can buy a 28TPA ASG, but is it jutmy build soecifically?

Might be your batteries, might be the fuse setting on the spectre, most likely cycle overlap.
If the gears are precocking the piston after the first shot, the amount of amperage needed to get that motor started raises to huge numbers. If the spectre doesn't see cycle completion within a given time of motor power on, it times out in alarm. You can stop the cycle overlap by using motor braking, but with the current going through it, you're gonna kill that motor pretty quick. An 18k would solve both problems and last longer. What's your goal in making a DSG build? Trigger response or ROF? |

You could just as well have used an SSG and the precocking feature on the BTC. It's much more reliable, easier to do, and offers more flexibility in tuning.

I can easily transfer over my 13:1’s and use that, but I kind of wish I could figure out what is wrong with the DSG as it’s my first one and I like to figure out problems so I can solve it on mine or another person’s at another time

what ratio of dsg? going to bet he's tripping the fuse due to excessive draw.
get an amp meter on it and measure the amperage draw. are you sure the selector plate is making good contact with the selector microswitches?

I took it apart right now. Going to get a TITAN for it and use the Spectre possibly for a DMR of sorts... The DSG is an SHS(Think 18:1), but 16:1 Step & Bevel. Selector Plate was making good contact with the selector microswitches.
