Loading Broomhandle Mauser
What is the correct way to load BB's into the Broomhandle Mauser's magazine? I find it hard to hold the slider down while inserting the BB's into the top of the magazine. Sometimes it wants to slip and pops up to the top. The manual that comes with the gun is vague on how to load the magazine. All it states is the maximum count is 22 BB's. Thank you in advance and is appreciated.... Harold

Does the slider slot get a bit wider at the bottom?

Yes it does get a bit wider at the bottom but there is nothing that the slider or spring to lock into. Width at the top is .260, bottom is .427. It takes a lot of pressure to hold the slider down. Too bad the slider couldn't stick out a bit more and have something to help hold it. One has to be careful and not let the slider slip and shoot up to the top.

Well if you can't hold it down and load from the bottom just load at the lips but ease the follower down one BB at a time till it's full.

Looking at the pics it seems like you could use a rod to push down on the hold open and compress the follower that way. Something like a BBQ skewer sized chunk.

I was thing of making some kind of hook to hook on the top of the slider and pull it down. Will post a picture of it when I come up with something suitable. They say "necessity is the mother of invention"!
